1) Disney does not have 800-toll-free for the public.
2) 800-numbers must be sales-justified.
3) Travel Agent toll-free pays for itself.
4) Public toll-free cost more than they generate *
. . . 800-Numbers have a base cost and per minute cost
. . . if sales are not made all the time, then the 800-number is just overhead
5) With 800-numbers
. . . too many people just call to gab or ask questions
. . . each call has to generate "X" amount in sales
. . . with toll-free calls, the numbers are just not there
* Toll-free lines are very costly for an operation like Disney. One
line can be as high as $55,000 per year. Now, multiply that times
100's of lines.
