I love the CA Grill so much so when my mom asked where i wanted to go for my birthday dinner, I picked there of corse. But now I'm looking at the menu and I realize that I don't see anything I like, I forget what I ate last time but I know I was older than 9.

My question is: can I either order from the kids menu? or can I order a completely plain steak with no sauces or veggies (and will that still cost a whopping $44)???

this question applies mainly for the CA Grill, but also for other restaurants

You can request the topping/sides be removed from the steak. But you will still pay the same price.

A couple alternatives you might look into: As I recall, some of their appetizers are very good. You could then share an entree (ordered as you like it) and the appetizer, and perhaps order nice cake? I wouldn't count on the kids menu, but you could give it a shot.

You could also call and ask what they have available for those with special diet restrictions. They might just have something that would appeal to you.

:) My father requested a "plain ole steak, with no seasonings" and loved it and yes we paid full price. We always ge the beef. My BIL says the sushi is very good. We use to love the flatbreads and I don't know if they are still available.

At any signature restaurant you should be able to accommodate reasonable requests such as this. Also, when your server is going over the menu, explain your likes and dislikes and see what ideas they have. They are there to guide you to the best meal you can have in their restaurant.

Also - be sure that the stuff on the menu is something that you don't like as opposed to an unusual description of something you'd enjoy. Regarding sauces, if you just plain out don't like gravy or sauce on anything, ask them to keep it off the food, otherwise, get it on the side and try it out. You might be surprised. As a general rule, this particular restaurant doesn't drown foods in sauces, they're just an accent of acidity and sweetness to balance something like a nicely salted steak.

Yes, you can ask for plain food. Be specific - if you want the steak with no sauce and no sides, nothing on the plate but the steak, make sure you say that. If you don't want any seasoning at all you should probably specify, or if you want only salt and pepper used. I am sure they WILL use salt and pepper unless you tell them not to.

Yes, you'll likely still have to pay the full price.
