HELP......bordercrossing question

Help!!! we are leaving for DL on THurs morning, but I need help with consent letter to go to US with my kids. Does/has anyone crossed with a letter from the other parent (signed by him) that is just witnessed and NOT notarized.? My ex and I share joint custody but I have primary residence with them. Would this suffice?
We travel quite a bit and getting it notarized everytime is a pain, I think I should go back to my lawyer and get an amendment that says either him or I can travel anywhere, anytime. Anyone have an agreement like that? Thanks to everyone, these boards are awesome.

We're trying it in a couple of weeks. The form letter I downloaded from the government of Canada website only has a space for witness, not notarization, and all the info I've seen says "certified", but nowhere have I seen anything that suggests it has to be notarized. So at least you've got the government on your side.

Can you remember the link to that form you downloaded...I looked on the website and don't know where to start.I will be travelling alone with my dd and want to have a letter stating my Dh is fully aware etc.thanks

Strange... That's a different link from the one I found, but the same letter, with a new warning at the top. Well, we'll see how it goes. Does anyone know what certified means, in this case?

Just got back from DL and had a great time (too short as always!!). Just wanted to let you know about the customs at the airport. Well, I got my ex just to sign a form and had a friend witness it. BUT the the customs guys did not even ask for it!! So no problems crossing for us divorced people with joint custody. Hope it's that easy everytime.
