I remember reading here that when booking something directly through Disney to find out what "hat" the CSR you are talking to is wearing. I can't remember much, but it stuck in my mind, seems like if they are called one thing you can't change your rooms or something, but if they are considered some other kind of rep you can. OR SOMETHING....I'm sorry to be so vague, but I distinctly remembering reading a thread about finding out what kind of Disney CSR that you are talking to and what kind of "hat" they are wearing.

Can someone PLEASE re-fresh my memory and let me know which one I want and what the difference is!

Do you mean that you only want to book with CRO so you can cancel/make changes without penalties?

My experience has been that most of them are great at what they do. But when I called and got this certain women, she had a very recoginizable voice, she was awful, I would excuse myslef and call back and get someone else. She is the only bad one I encountered the rest were extremely helpful.

During busy times CRO has in excess of 20,000 people manning the phones. The odds of calling 10 times and getting the same person are very high.

Disney merged The Walt Disney Travel Company and the Central Reservations Office into one unit called the Disney Reservation Center.

Everybody is now trained to book both packages (with what are seen as unfavorable cancellation conditions) and room only reservations (these have the more favored cancellation policy).

If you want the room only reservation, just tell the agent you want a room-only reservation. If they tell you your deposit due is $200, there's a problem. Tell them you want a room only reservation and were expecting to pay a deposit of one night's stay. If they still tell you $200, hang up and get another agent! :)
