I just found room only rates through Expedia for our trip dates in Sept. that are $300 less than what I was quoted from Cro. Wondering if anyone has had any luck with booking through Expedia? Why are the rates higher when booking through WDW CRO directly?

Also, we are looking to book at CSR or Dolphin for roughly the same price? Which would you choose?

Thanks

I booked my first trip ever through Expedia (flight and room). Besides a mix up with the spelling of my name, (which was fixed rather quickly upon arrival, after stressing for a few minutes as they searched for my room!) it was fine. I would suggest following up with the resort or maybe CRO once you book, to verrify. I booked on a Sunday and was scheduled to arrive the following Sunday.

If you book with Expedia CRO has NO record of you. Any changes or fixes have to go through expedia

I guess because mine was so close to the arrival time, Pop already had my reservation on file. When I called to check, they found me quite quickly, but had misspelled my name, which I did not know until I got to the Magical Express counter and they could not find me.

Sorry for the mix up!

This is true with all companies such as Expedia, Travelocity & Orbitz. For us the issue with this is that you cannot do the DDP (I think) and you have to find a way to buy tickets to the parks. I guess you could buy them the day of arrival. IMO it's too much of a hassle for me.

I have used Expedia several times to book hotel, airlines, car rental. No problems.

The resort had your info. If the OP has to change something or check on something he has to go through expedia, CRO will have no record.

Thanks for the replies. I found the same resort at CRO for the same price at Expedia except Expedia offers a Water VIEW at CSR. Is it worth taking the chance on Expedia Room only for a waterview at CSR vs. a standard room at CRO? Thanks

Water view in Disney speak can mean lake or pool view.
Personally I don't think it is a big enough deal to book through Expedia to get a water view.
I have had water view at CSR (our only stay there -- so far) and the window was so misted over the entire time we couldn't even see out of it.

I have booked at least a dozen flight/hotel combos through Expedia over the years and have had no problems what so ever.

Once, my Mom broke her leg just 24 hours before a trip to Disney and a room at The Dolphin, and Expedia refunded our entire purchase price when we had to cancel at the last minute. It took a couple of phone calls and explanations, but they did it, and that's what matters.

As said above, though, it's best to call the front desk and/or airline a couple of days in advance to make certain everything is OK. And of course, bring all your 'paper work' (from your printer) with you.

You're not taking any chance by booking through expedia. You can buy tickets from disney ahead of time too if you want and I believe expedia also sells tickets. I know they sell DL ones. Expedia is no different than booking via a travel agent at all.

I'm unsure why anyone would have a negative thing to say about booking via expedia, no one seems to have any reason not to. A nice thing about expedia too is that they only charge one airline reservation fee so you can fly two different airlines (return/there) if thats cheaper and not get nicked twice with the (hidden) 50 dollar booking fee.

Take whatever is cheaper, Expedia, a Travel Agent, or Disney directly. There is no risk with any of them. You don't need to call and verify via CROs, I'd guess over 80 percent of bookings are not with disney directly, but through travel agents, such as Expedia.
