Help! BC or OKW alone with a 6 and 7year old

love OKW, never stayed at BC but I'm travellimg alone with a 6 and 7 year old in august. I'm tempted to try BC but I fear the pool
Will be too big for me to watch both kids but the proximity to the parks will be much more convenient. My kids love community hall and the pool more than the parks but I think getting to and from the parks especially after fireworks from
OKW will be tough too. Advice?

In your situation I'd probably try for BWV or one of the monorail resorts, but it really depends on your kids. I can see where two young kids at the BC pool could keep you on your toes.

I would lean more towards BWV or BC in this situation. The convenient location and transportation options will make a huge difference rather than having to take a bus everywhere. 1 of the monorail resorts wouldn't be bad either, but just on personal preference we always kinda defer to the BWV/BC area.

You could use the quiet pool at BC. My kids prefer it. Also try BWV for the community hall. Like yours, my kids love CH. if you go with BC, you can always walk to the CH At BEV.

I found BC to be great because when my kids were that age, they stayed in the sand bottom side playing with the sand. They were there for HOURS! The water there is about 2 feet deep and they dredge the sand up to form a mound. I think that you should try it. You may be surprised

I agree, an EP or monorail resort would be preferable. My only concern, like you, would be the pool. I think it depends on how well you think your kids would listen to you and follow the limits you set. I have a very conscientious 6yo who would only stay where I told her, which would leave me with enough energy and head space to watch the 2 yo more carefully - so I would opt for BC.

I would go for a monorail resort for a 6 and 7 year old. All three monorail resorts have great pools for kids.

The DVC pool is lovely at BCV, and I would pick BCV!

It depends on your kids. I wouldn't have had mine anywhere NEAR SAB at six and seven.

SAB has a wonderful zero entry area. If your kids will stay there, you'll find it a great pool. There is also a little kiddie slide area. Which was great when my kids were three and four.

By seven my son would have been wanting the deeper waters and bigger slide, and my daughter wouldn't have been ready for that. The sight lines at SAB are lousy, the deep parts of the pool are very deep, and the lazy river has a stiff current (and is also deep).

By the time they were eleven and twelve, it was a good pool, but shortly thereafter, they wanted just waterparks.

My opinion would be to stay at BWV, they have a fabulous community center and three pools. But the large pool has a clown face, so if they are afraid of clowns then its not for them.

You really can't go wrong with either. It just depends on which amenities are important to you. I prefer the epcot resorts, though. OKW is lovely but more secluded and has less going on IMHO (although it's fine if you get a room by the hospitality house or turtle pond pool)

At BC it will be impossible for you to keep eyesight on your kids. The stairs for the slide is outside of the pool area, across the public walkway. With 2 kids you can deploy the buddy system while on line for the slide.

The clown pool at BWV has great sight lines; you could sit in your lounge chair and watch them to the top of the slide steps and right through the mouth!

If you stay at BC the walk to the community hall at BW isn't too far.

It's just a bus ride. I mean, I hate the buses (we drive), but there's nothing difficult about them.

And remembering my kid at those ages, I would rather walk to the his than walk allllll the way through Epcot and to the resort.

Then again we rent a car. I think I've taken the bus at okw maybe twice.

All kids I've been to wdw with love the big pool at okw, and the turtle pond pool is lovely.

I love threads like this and just reading all of the different perspectives and preferences on different resorts. Places that we don't really love, but are others favorite. Our favorite, but others may not really enjoy. Just cool to see the variance in opinions.

Will you be spending more time at MK? Or HS and EPCOT? If HS and EPCOT, I would definitely go for BWV or BCV. If MK is your main resort for the trip, I might look at BLT.

As much as we love OKW, I'd plan on staying anywhere but unless you will both have a car and use it for parks other than MK.

If you're alone with 2 kids (6 and 7), I would go with the option of more varued food options (BW/Epcot), easier transportation (walk to 2 parks, can run home put them to bed "sort of" on time), more pool options (can pool hop to bwv if dislike SAB), more entertainment options (miniature golf, small playground, swan boats at swan/dolphin, plus boardwalk mimes/magicians at night).

Definitely stay at bwv or BCV. Just more to do overall.

At 6-7 yrs old, Hollywood is also usually more enticing. My son is 7.5 and was starting to lose interest in MK on our last trip. He actually didn't even want to go to MK (preferred AK, actually).

Also if it rains, easy to pop over to the nemo aquarium. Dont forget the member lounge at Epcot (which is just nice to have).

In other words, more things to do at bw area if you need to distract the kids!!

If you're leaning towards OKW, then I would say consider Kidani. Better pool, splash play area for kids, great slide, great CH, excellent bus system to the parks, and animals! We like OKW when we need to conserve points, but our 11 yo much prefers any of the other resorts. Otherwise, I would go with BCV and SAB. Of course, you know your kids and whether you can keep them corralled in one area with you. I do hate that the entrance for the slide is across the sidewalk, even with an 11-yo. As Crisi stated, there are deep areas and the current in the lazy river is a strong one. It is nice walking to Epcot or boating to HS, rather than having to rely on buses.

I think this may be the case for our family as well. Growing up near the beach may have overly prepared my children for water more than the average child. However, I will say that my children really loved to just sit in the shallow water and play with the sand.
