We decided to arrive a day earlier than expected. We are staying at AOA in the Little mermaid rooms for both reservations. Has anyone ever done this? Will we have to take all of our bags to be held until our next room is ready or will they just let you stay in the same room?

Thanks!

99% of the time you will be able to stay in your room. As long as it's the same room category. :) You will just need to go down to the front desk and check-out/check-in. I've done this many times when combining a room-only reservation with a package. They've never made us vacate the room.

Did it matter what time you did this? The day we check out/check in, we'll be heading to the park early for EMH. Could I possibly do this as early as 7am?

You can check-in as early as 6:00 AM. :)

Yep I did that on my trip last year at about 6.30am and it was no problem staying in the same room (although they did take about 20 minutes trying to get the computer system to register it) but I did have to go down to the check in desk to sort it out. Fingers crossed for the same luck this year.

We did this last trip at CBR. When I arrived on the first day, the front desk was able to let me know that I would be staying in the same room the next day so I knew I wouldn't have to move. They also told me I didn't need to return to the front desk on the second day, that I could just call from the phone in my room and tell them I'm checking into my package. I did exactly that before heading out to the park in the morning, and had no issues. Very easy!

Tell them when you check in so this way they know you are staying in same type of room. Call and link the two reservations

As the pp said, link the 2 reservations and put in a request to keep the same room. When you check in for the first reservation, tell the CM that you have a continuing reservation and would like to keep the same room if possible. It's not guaranteed you won't have to move, but they'll do everything they can to keep you in that room.

To save yourself the trouble you can call ahead of time. Call the reservations center and explain your situation. They can combine your reservations into one. They did that for me last week! So my whole reservation is one room the whole time guaranteed!

I am in this same situation at the BC, except it is under 3 separate reservations. There was a night in the very middle of our stay with no availability, initially, so I booked 2 stays before and after that night and then had to book that night separately (thank goodness availability opened up!). Same room category for all 3 reservations and I called to link them. I wasn't given the option of combining the reservations.

My question is.. should I do online check in with a room request for the first reservation only? Or all 3? Or none at all? I've never had to book a stay like this before so I am kind of clueless about the process.

Just FYI, I was in that 1% despite have the same resort, same room category and accessibility needs, linked reservations and lots of notes. But Disney was very good they moved everything including groceries to new room. It was just a bit of work packing up (and not showering hehe). But we still made rope drop. So it is not a guarantee :worship: but definitely works more often than not. I am hoping we cannot be unlucky two years in a row.

Here's my question (related):

I am doing a split stay of 2 + 6 nights at BLT (2BR lake view) in early March. This was not by choice - my elderly parents and us with a 4yo and an infant needed the proximity to MK, and we are renting points from a private individual. When he made the reservation, he was unable to make 1 reservation for our entire stay.

So - anyone who's had to do a split stay at the same resort - do you have any tips?

I'm also wondering what the chances are that we'll be able to stay in the same room, and how to maximize those chances. Is there anyone I can call in advance, etc? The thought of moving my parents and kids is ... daunting. (That said, does anyone have any tips on how to make the move as smooth as possible if we have to physically check out and check back in?)

Also, how does it work as far as DME and Magic Bands? And to complicate matters, my parents are flying in from a different city and have never used DME or MBs before. They don't have park tickets yet, I'm thinking of getting them 5-6 day PHs; our family has APs.

(also, is it easier or harder to try to use MBs from a previous trip, or do we just go ahead and get *new* MBs on this trip)

Thanks in advance!

And a follow up - linking reservations is not the same as combining reservations, right? Both reservations are showing up in MDE but I have to check out and check in again on 2/27. But was told yesterday they still can't combine them into one res because ... something about can't confirm one room is available the whole time. Should I keep trying periodically to have them combined?

When I have done this, the CM at the front desk generally already knew we had a continuing reservation. Whoever assigned the rooms must have noticed.

One tip though - stop by the registration desk even if they say you are all set. We came back from the park, changed, and went to the BC hot tub. Walked all the way to the room in our towels and what not, all wet. Magicbands now suddenly did not work a half hour later. It was a very annoying walk! Better to check before you walk to your room, than to have to come back.

Thanks for the tip. Some of the experienced DVCers said that it was likely because the points came from different contracts.
