Help an old Mouseketeer

Please forgive me. It’s been 7 years since our last WDW trip. So much has changed since then and I’m overwhelmed by it all! There’s just too much information to sort through and we’re planning just 2 days to “Live in the Disney moment.” Two things I need to know:
1. Are magic bands no longer free/included when you book on-site?
2. Is the Virtual Queue an additional fee?

1. Correct. Magicbands are no longer free, but you can buy them at a slight discount when booking onsite.

2. Virtual Queue is free! I’d recommend reading the great info thread about VQ here.

Magic bands are no longer free.

VQ is free, but not a guarantee that you will get one. You should also know that if you do get one, that once your boarding group is called, you can expect to wait in line, it is not a walk on. We waited 2 HOURS to ride GofG aftervscanning in, and our group was called 40 minutes early. Wasted half our evening. Had i known, I would never have done it. Never again.

No free magic bands anymore. They give you a discount on price for an onsite stay. You can get a card from your hotel front desk for your room key. Also you can use your phone for opening room/getting into the park.

No fee for Virtual Queue but you need a park reservation for Epcot/MK. 7am drop for Guardians/Tron (can be anywhere) 1 pm for second drop have to be tapped into the park

If you are really set on riding one of the VQ rides, I would buy paid lighting lane ( Fast pass) at 7am.
