Let me begin with I love Disboards, and end with I don't love new Disboards! I need to add a new Avatar and my kids are back at college - so basically nobody young enough in my home to do this for me, lol. Before you answer, keep in mind I am terribly tech-challenged. I had a pic of Ariel previously. I think I remember finding that at my Edit Profile section, but now I don't even see an "edit" icon, or a place to choose avatars. If anyone can explain this to me, I would really, really appreciate it. Otherwise I will wait for the kids to visit to do it for me. Thanks, Jane. Also, I just noticed that the cute "emotions" are not there anymore - I love those things!! I just realized that I have, in fact, become my mother --NOOOOO!!

Ok, finally got my avatar to work...
Here is what I did and it worked for me...

1. go to where you see your DISname in the upper right corner; put your little cursor on it and a new little window pops open
2. click where it says "your profile page"
3. click the avatar box; it will open a window to the side
4. chose the file you want to use (I used a regular photo and I also used photos that I had resized to 200x200 pixels previously)
5. look for a little window up above that box that will say "upload saved"
6. click okay and viola there you go!

As for the emotions--- see the smilie face in the box where you type? click it and all the smilies will pop up in a window down below the reply box:jumping1:. I hope that helps!

Princess Nancy, thank you for the quick reply. I don't have any photos (because I don't know how to do that either lol). Can I still use those pre made characters from before? And I'm very happy about the emotions still being here:jumping1: thanks again, Jane

The stock avatars we used to have are not available to my knowledge.

You could always save a clipart to your computer and then save it to your avatar.

I gave you an Ariel. :)

There is a LOT of info and help on our Technical Support forums. If you have a "how can I do this" type question, post it there and lots of very helpful people will be happy to walk you through it!

Thanks again! I must say I see you also have two kids in college, so I am very impressed with your tech savvy!

Had to learn how to be tech savvy! My husband is in the computer field..and then the kids all had computer classes in school (it was an extra class like gym, music) to expose them to the new world of sorts. I know a little about computers but I still depend on my husband and kids for a lot. :)

I remember laughing at my mom when she couldn't work a vcr in the 80's, and now I am her with a computer!
