We are travelling to Orlando in September staying onsite at Disney, so will use ME from the airport - We are then cruising from Port Canaveral (not disney) for seven days, on return we are staying at Hard Rock Hotel for 2 days and then transfer to airport.

As we are family of five, it will be better and probably cheaper to hire a car to take us to Port Canaveral, if the price is fair we will probably hire the car a few days earlier and use it at WDW. We will turn in the car at Port Canaveral and then pick up another on our return to take us to HRH and then airport.

This is where I am lost - what company do I use that has locations at both WDW and Port C, what codes am I entitled to and where do I find them, I am a member of NRMA (AAA equivalent in Australia) but my card only has a three digit, club code, number, i cant seem to find where to put that on the websites of any of the major companies.

I did find a code on here forget which company, but it was apparently a public travelocity code, it gave quite a good discount, are Australians entitled to use such a code? I really dont want to get caught using something im not entitled to and have to pay up a small fortune.

The consensus on the Aussie thread is that National / Alamo are the cheapest but they dont seem to have a drop off at Port C. It has worked cheaper for some to keep the car while cruising, but cant see that working for 7 days.

I am going insane over this. I dont want to be the chump who pays waaay tooo much for their hire car.

1.) What company do I use that has locations at both WDW and Port C?

Using Travelocity to do a prelim search from WDW (attraction) to Port C four rental companies were presented. Dollar, Hertz, Budget, and Avis. Dollar rental had the much cheaper rate for rental.

2.) What codes am I entitled to and where do I find them?

I haven't heard about any code restrictions for those living out the U.S. If it works for you then use it! Mousesavers.com has a lot of great information on rental companies in the Orlando area and discount codes. I've also found some great codes at Rental Car Momma. Even if I book straight with the company I do a comparison search at a travel site like travelocity or expedia. When I get an idea of the prices I'll start trying to use codes to get an even better deal.

Play around with the rental periods as well. Sometimes you can get extra rental time for very little extra. At the very least try to give yourself some cushion so that you aren't charged any extra for being late. Sometimes I have found no difference in price for a whole additional rental day. There is no penalty for turning it in EARLY and it is nice to have options.

Unless you prepay there is typically no penalty for cancelling a reservation so you can always check in the coming months to see if the prices have gone down.

Good luck! I hope you have a great trip.

Punch your dates into Dollar's site. We got an economy car for 8 days for $180.00, total, taxes and all, no code, no discount. We reserved early, now the same deal is $500 +, this is in early March. Reserve your best deal now, keep checking and cancel if you find something better. Good luck.
