Can someone help me out? I want to know the difference between printing boarding passes for your flight from home versus using a kiosk at the airport. We are flying USAirways from Philly in about 3 weeks. Can I print the boarding passes from home then use the kiosk to check in? Can I print the boarding passes from home then do curb-side check in? I just dread waiting in a LONG line first thing in the morning, especially since we will be travelling with a one year old, my parents, best friend and grandmother.

Please help! We are used to curbside check-in only where they take your luggage and give you your boarding pass?

Am I making too much of this? Thank you!

Also, do the airlines still have beverage service? I know they don't do food unless you order it ahead, but I'm hoping I can get coffee or juice the morning of my flight?

Okay, I think you can do the boarding passes at home and check in curb-side, but they may have stopped most of that with all of the added security. What I usually do is use a credit card at a kiosk thing in front of the check-in desks to bring up my tickets/boarding passes. (Don't worry, it doesn't charge you anything) Then they call you up to take your bags. It's a MUCH shorter wait in most cases.

Also, the beverage service is offered on most occassions, depending on the length of your trip. As long as it's not a really short flight, there has always been a beverage service when I've flown.

I'm not 100% sure of everything, but mostly. I'm sure if you call the airlines they can let you know for sure about checking in. (It may even be on the website)
:)

If you print your boarding passes you are checking in to the system. You would still need to get the tags for the suitcases. If your airport does curbside check in then you would be ready to go.

They still offer beverages on the plane. Soft drinks, juice, coffee is free in coach. You might get a bag of peanuts, pretzels but no meals. If you require something more you would need to pick it up at the airport. Several airlines now are offering for sale meals. Breakfast is $7, lunch and dinner are $10.

If you print boarding passes at home, will you get seat assignments for your connecting flight?

We have seat assignments for the first leg of our trip, however, USAirways says they won't release seat assignments for our connecting flight (PIT-MCO) until we get to PIT. (must be a full flight)

I would think in that case you would need to stop at the ticket counter. Usually when you don't have a seat someone has to manually assign one. In that case I would get to the airport early because they are assigned on a first come first serve basis. Someone else may be flying in from another city and doing the same thing at their home airport for that second flight since PIT is a hub city.

Thanx Safteymom. We'll check in at the airport. Only a few more weeks and we'll be CBR bound!

FYI, if you fly Delta don't expect soft drinks--it's just juice, lemonade and water now.

Delta actually varies based on the Lenght of the flight. Most of my flights are the hour type and they don't serve anything but Water, Lemonade and Cranapple juice in coach. On longer flights they do the whole service.
