HELP advice needed

had some medical bills last august, paid in september and NOW, IN JANUARY 2012 i get a letter from collection agency.

told them i paid, used credit card. called the doctors office, they said they know i paid.

TWO WEEKS LATER, still not cleared up. they still have not notified collection who are still SENDING me bills.

Send copy of credit card statement proving you paid the bill to the collection agency. asap

I would have your Dr. office send them something showing that you paid, since they are the ones who turned you over to them

My understanding is that once the bill is sold to collections, there is no dealing with the Dr. 's office. In fact, the doc may have no idea who now owns your debt. You need to send the collections agency a letter. See:

You need to contact the collection agency and ask them to send you exactly what it is that you owe and to whom. This happened to me a few years ago. I had medical bills that I had paid that I got a collection letter on. What it turned out is that I went to a hospital and had an ultrasound done on my gallbladder. I paid the hospital and doctor bill but there was a 3rd bill from the doctor/technician or whomever it was that read the results of the ultrasound that I didn't ever receive. It might be something like that. Good luck.

You should be able to go in to the doctors office and have them print out statements of when those items were paid. Then YOU will have to send copies to the collection agency. Make sure to keep copies for yourself. The first attempt with the collection agency I would just send/fax them normal. If that doesn't work you will need to go to the Post Office and send them certified and sign for. That way when the green card comes back you can call the collection agency and say "so and so" signed for them. Where are they now.

If you send them copies of your credit card statement make sure to black out your card number and anything else that might give them access to actually charging your credit card.

Since it was turned over for collection the doctors office can't talk to the collection agency and vice versa. Just make sure to keep calling the collection agency it is all up to you now unfortunately.
