We made a few ADR's and were able to get one at California Grill. My mom is beyond excited, I however am not. I have a seafood allergy. A bad one at that, the smell alone will send me into an attack. Will I be able to eat there?:confused3

CG isn't exactly what I would call a "seafood restaurant". I mean, it may have some fish in dishes, like salmon or a lobster salad appetizer, scallops, or sushi, but the restaurant definitely doesn't have any sort of "fishy" smell IMO. I don't feel like it has any more fish than any of the other nicer WDW restaurants. There are plenty of other options to eat while there that don't include fish. I have never eaten any seafood while there, other than a bite of my dining companion's salmon. Hope that you enjoy yourself! :goodvibes

I too have a seafood allergy (specifically shellfish), but I'm only in trouble if I actually eat it. However, I still pay attention to the "smell", especially at seafood restaurants because you never know, I'm always worried the allergy will get worse.

Anyway, the only time I have noticed a fishy smell at CA Grill was during our last trip when my mom ordered the scallops; however, it didn't smell fishy until it was on the table.

So although the restaurant itself doesn't smell of fish, that doesn't mean that someone at a table next to you won't order seafood.

If you do end up going, you might want to make a request to be seated far away from the sushi prep area.

Thanks for your opinions. :) I'll be okay as long as the entire place doesn't have an overwhelming smell to it.

I would let them know when you check in- it's possible they can seat you off to the side, or somewhere the possibility of seafood smells will be less noticeable. You wouldn't want to be seated near the open kitchen, for example. If you call ahead a few days or the day before they can try to accomodate you. Dis restaurants try to be so helpful to those with eating situations---you'd think they would work with you on this.

I've never noticed much of a smell at CG, seafood, or otherwise. Have fun!
