Help a first-timer!! FastPass+....where to start??

We will be at WDW 9/20-9/27 for the first time as a family. Our son is 6 (he turns 7 while we're there! ), and our daughter is 4. I'm mainly concerned about the FP+ for MK, as we will spend at least 2 full days touring there. Any tips on where and how to start?? What about using rider swap to maximize our FP+? Kinda overwhelming for this newbie! Thanks in advance!!

As far as fp goes. I would definitely pick mine train, peterpan and jungle cruise. Those typically have a long wait. And I would pick little mermaid on day two. Don't forget once your fp time is over you can select additional fp at a a kiosk in the park. So it might be possible to fp all rides in the same day.
