Help a firefighter plan a trip

I am a firefighter and want to go to WDW in January 2016. I can only get vacation during this time, with being new. We want to take the kids out of school for a few days for a 5 day trip. Maybe wed-sunday. We have been before bit it was in the summer. Kids are 7 and 9. When are the smallest crowds during this month and what is the best resort. We stayed at All Star Movies and want a little nicer resort, maybe animation or a moderate resort. Any advice is welcome.

This is from 2015, but I would assume it would be similar in 2016. Looks like the last week is your best bet! I don't have any kids so I'm not sure which resorts appeal more to families with children. We are staying at Caribbean Beach in November and I have been reading tons of great things about it.. Maybe you can check that one out?! Sorry I can't be more help!

Art of Animation is a really neat resort, Pop Century is my personal favorite for a value resort. Port Orleans is probably my favorite moderate resort. Art of Animation, Pop Century, & all the All Star Resorts would probably appeal more to the kids.

According to Undercover tourist's crowd calculator, the lowest crowd levels during January 2016 would be between the 24th and the 31st. There is also much less crowds during the first week of March too. When picking your hotel think about which parks you and your family like the most and pick a hotel that is closer to that particular park. Another thing to think about is theming. Each hotel has its own theme. Think about which theme would excite your kids the most and choose accordingly. If you all enjoy Finding Nemo then maybe Art of Animation is right for you. If you guys are big pirate fans Carribian would be right down your alley.In my opinion Key West is the best moderate resort because of the beachy feel and the spacious villas. I hope this helped!

I vote for Pop !! Has tons of Disney atmosphere. Also , remember to go to the firehouse on Main St. U.S.A. They have a bunch of patches from fire companies ( from all over) and maybe you could donate one from yours, and then apart of you will always live in " the magic" . Enjoy.

If you're wanting a moderate, I highly recommend Port Orleans Riverside! I agree that the end of January is the best time as far as crowds.
