HELP 8yr old scammed I think

We went to vmk central on my sons suprise trip everyone and he loved it we did all the quests and turned them in for his cards. Late night we went there on the way out of the parks again and the lady behind the desk was super nice she gave my son extra cards for mickey tvs and such and guess what she gave him two invisiblity magic cards saying shes giving him his own little dream along with other stuff he came away with tons of cards. We got home on sunday and right away hes on vmk entering his cards. Just now he comes to me and starts crying I ask him what happened and he says someone asked to borrow his invisibity magic which he used both cards on so as I have learned from here its a two star magic pin now. She borrows that from him and his cursed storm magic pin and he said dont worry mommy shes a friend I made two days ago. My gut drops I get on as his character to find her and shes offline so now what how do I get it back? I told him mommy thinks you where scammed that this person took your dream as we called it in the parks. Hes crying now and im upset what can we do to get his stuff back I have this persons vmk name and everything as shes still on his friends list can anyone help me as far as advice on what to do or is this a lesson hard learned on the real life meanies in this world.

That sounds like a scam - something similar happened to me when I was new.

I would just nicely ask the girl for the magic back next time she is online, and tell your son not to let anyone borrow anything from him again. If that girl hasn't deleted him and run off with his items by now, then there is a chance that she really just wanted to borrow it. After all, if she wanted to steal it, she probably would have run off by now.

The one thing i have told my 7yr old DD>> Never trade unless mommy says it is okay!!! She has gotten to where i am the only one to do the trading , and she gets all the cool stuff!!

It's not a two star pin until he combined both magic pins BEFORE he traded.
Unfortunately, due to the amount of greed people have over their VMK
loot, I don't think it's likely he'll get his magic back.

You can't trust anyone in VMK, especially "friends" you make two days ago.
And even then, you really shouldn't give items to people you trust unless
you're sure you won't mind losing the items forever.

I'm sorry your son traded without your supervision, but I think this might
turn into one of life's sour lessons unless she gives him back the magic.

I hate hate hate hearing how kids trust people in VMK they shouldn't and
get burned.

well im am so sorry to hear that i dont have extra magic but i can give him his own pirate dream ship so he can have a little bit of dream in his room if you msg me tomorrow so we can get together that would be great thanks and tell him it will all be ok!

We where heading out of the park and decided to turn in the quests I had printed off vmk. We walked in and two girls where at the desk and they said they where bored. We told them how this is my sons first time seeing vmk central and such and all of sudden she hands us a red suit magic card for each person on our ressie so she just kept giving him cards hes got tons of mickey tvs and such and safari rooms you name it. Then she says shhhh and hands him two invisiblity magic cards and says don't tell anyone but here you go. He smiled then looked at the card and just started screaming about how rare it is and me being a silly mommy said shhhh and let me hold them till we get home. The girl said to him she was glad to make a little dream come true. WE get home he enters them both the cards giving to him and now this I have the cards still on me for proof he has them but the codes wont work anymore. I told him not to trade but he said this girl is his friend and she asked nicely and begged then said if he did not borrow the magic to her she was going to report him and get him banned instead of coming to me he hands her the magic and now I'm upset and angry and right before this happened I had just told him never ever trade anything to anyone and well it must of went in one ear and out the other. Now hes sleeping with dried tears on his face and im really hoping she gives it back I did message her so maybe shes a good player but I'm preparing for the worst and told him that if she took it theres nothing mommy can do and that to never ever trade anyone ever without me.

The only thing that gives me hope in this situation is the fact that she has not deleted him yet. Make sure to use the Contact Us feature on the home page, give every detail you can, including their name, the approximate time it happened, and perhaps even the codes on the cards. And no offense meant, but it will be a good idea to type with the best spelling, grammar, and the like so they can understand the problem fully.

It's unfortunate that this kind of stuff happens to 8yr olds-it even happens to us "big people"! I lent my bat magic to a "friend" who said she needed it for the green car quest & promised to give it back. I do think she was on the quest, but she ended up keeping it. She also deleted me right away-so there is hope for your son in that respect, but I doubt VMK will really do anything-they have it on the home page where Jake and Hailey are chatting about make sure you want to trade because once it's done, it's done. I reported and they just sent me an email about how they couldn't do anything, I made the choice to lend it, blah blah blah-and that was back before they started putting all the warnings up. But good luck, just the same! (And I never, NEVER let my 8yr old trade anymore without me either!)

Over the weekend a young family member started playing vmk. She lives about an hour away. So, we can play online, but most of the time not in the same room. It is a challenge to get the little ones that have played games like Webkins to understand they can not just add anyone to their friends list. Part of me wishes there was a way to turn off friends requests.

Right now, I have asked her to not accept any friend requests and have turned off trading. Although she is prettty smart~and I am concerned she will figure out how to turn trades on. I tried to explain to her a bit about people might trying to give her several low value chairs for one magic pin. And that although the trade might look like a good deal, many items for one~it is not.

I have been doing my best to reduce her desire to trade. She earned some items, by completing some quests made just for her.

So, for now I hope for the best. And I am sorry to hear what happened to your son. It very well could have been my niece.

I tottally agree with this, my little sister, SuperMonkey_Girl, was scammed for her sparrow pants when she was new. The pants where a gift from me Now, whenever we both trade, we ask each other, isthis a good trade? i think that maybe having someone else who you completely trust and know in real and could possibly be in the same house can help. I hope you get your son's dream back

they should be banned if they scam an 8, 18, 28, etc etc....scamming people are lower than pond scum on my chart.

I truly hope your DS get's his magic back and I know it is hard to swallow but he will learn a lesson from the expierence, I know I did when I was scammed and sorry to say a little piece of the magic died that day for me.

Please PM me the name as we keep a record of anyone who is reported for scamming.

Please give your sweet boy a big hug and kiss from me, i know it is a loss of a 'magic' , but the good thing is it is a "virtual" loss. and i know from experience, we as moms put more value on it than the kids do.!! ( I still have stuff in my account that i will not give to the kids!!! LOL
I think it was a wonderful thing the CM gave him those cards to make his trip special.


I think it is horrible that a person would threaten a player with banning to get what they want from them!!!!! that is not a scam, in the real world that would be called extortion.

If you click on the settings button in-game, you can turn off your son's trade feature, so that he can do no trading at all.

It can always be set back so that he can trade, but it's probably best to make sure that he doesn't know how to change it until he fully understands scams, and it would be a good idea to always be there when he wants to trade.

This happened to my son a few months back when his"friends" at school got into his account (turns out they were watching him typ in his password) and took everything he owned. I had just gotten him all the pirate quest codes for an Easter gift, plus he had many rare as we have both been playing since the beta days. We both learned very, very hard but valuable lessons. We have an extra invisibility if you need it. I remember all those nights and days of wiping the tears off his face. We never were able to replace his Stitch or Sparrow but most of the other things the wonderful and caring people here helped us with! That an Ebay....lol

My son also got scammed by a girl who told him she wanted to borrow his pirate well for a little while. She also then told him she would get him in trouble if he did not let her have it. He is 6 and was intimidated so traded without talking to me first. She quickly proceeded to laugh at him and tell him he was dumb and fell for it and quickly told him she was going to delete him from her friends list. He was very sad for a long time, but it did teach him a lesson and now he will not trade with anyone unless I am present. He actually remembered her VMK name and I found her in one of her rooms and told her that I hope she was proud to cheat a little kid out of something he worked hard to get, she was very rude and I told her I was happy to have her deleted from my son's list as she was not very nice. LOL. Of course she did not care. It is a terrible thing to have happened to your son, but unfortunately maybe he may have learned an unfrotunate lesson. We do not have any magic to share with you, otherwise we would. Good luck in the future!

If it makes you feel better when I first joined VMK in beta I was scammed out of my first princess crown. They wanted to try it on. And I too fell for that never to see it again.

I think it should be in there registration to be careful of the new friends you make. They may borrow something and not give it back.
