We have already booked for next late next January and have 7 days to decide whether to upgrade from the All star sports to the next level of hotels that will cost roughly an extra $800 for me and the missus.....we dont know what to do...heres our fors and against.....

for upgrade
----
less or no cheerleaders at the moderate resorts
more food options
bus not shared with other hotels? (can someone confirm this)
we have only ever done the AS Sports at WDW

against upgrade
----------------
we actually enjoy the sports theme
we really do only want a place to sleep and a tv, cos were out most of the day

i know thats not many fors and against but can anyone help with the list? thats all i could think of for now.

Any help the anyone can give would be excellent.

i will keep thinking and try and add to my fors and against.

thanks everyone!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :cheer2:

I've stayed at Sports twice now and I've really enjoyed both trips. One was early Jan and the other was September. There were no cheerleaders during either trip and on the Jan trip we had baseball teams staying there. We hardly noticed them!!! Aside from seeing kids running around in uniforms it wasn't a big deal. While the bus is shared at Sports I didn't find that an issue either because it's the first one picked up. On our last trip we were doing everything to save money so Sports was the way to go. We used the room for the same thing as you... sleep and a tv. We did swim in the pool but to me a pool is a pool. (Some will say the moderates have slides, which they do. But it's not worth the price of upgrading for a it. Plus we went to a water park one day.) Also I loved the sports theme and the whole feel of the resort.

Now on the plus side for moderates... there is a slide, the resorts don't share buses. (But they most or many have multiple stops, if I recall correctly.) I've only stayed at Port Orleans Riverside but I LOVED IT! I thought the food court was great and the theme was great. They do have some added little extras you won't get at the values. There are bikes to rent. It's on the water so you can take a boat to Pleasure Island. The theme is well done. I'm just touching on a few reasons I like this one but I'm sure others will share opinions on other resorts.

If I were in your shoes based on what you've said I'd stick with sports for this trip. (And if you're like me your significant other will demand a deluxe for your next trip! thank god for codes!!)

How about a split stay? We were going to do 4 nights at Pop Century and 3 nights offsite but decided to do 3 nights at one of the moderates instead of offsite, still trying to decide between Coronado Springs and Port Orleans. Also we're getting 20% AAA discount on the stay, we usually look at the hotel as just a place to sleep and have stayed at some places that others would call fleabags but thought that at those prices it would be fun to splurge a little for this trip.

Thanks for the replys people.:thumbsup2

i think we will probably stay at the sports......the split stay idea was good, but i really dont think i can be doing with that.

thanks again.
