We had planned to spend all day in MK - husband now thinks that maybe we should go there until about 2 and go elsewhere :furious:

I think that we should stay at MK all day and soak up the atmosphere - any thoughts anyone??

Thanks

Having been there last year on the 4th of July, I would say listen to your husband. The crowd was unbelieveable and we were there all day. We go every year in March and tried July as a surprise. Well you could not even move and it was so hot there was no where to go to cool off. There were so many people in the stores, even sitting on the floor to cool off, out of the sun.I say go to another park in the evening ,they say MK is always the most crowded. Never again for us.

Well, it's entirely up to you, but I would not go to MK on July 4th unless I were there for the fireworks. There's really nothing special going on in the morning or afternoon. By noon, it will be SUPER packed. I haven't been on the 4th in some years, but I remember it being a madhouse in MK. If the fireworks are what you want to see, I'd stay for the day. When you leave on the 4th, there is a chance you won't be let back in due to the park being at capacity. So, either go to MK for the day or pick another park to hang out at.

All I can say is your brave to even go to the MK on the 4th, no matter what time of day!! Been 2x for that time period, and will never, never do again. I guess if we didn't have kids it would be different.

Someday, maybe I can just sit at the Railraod station overlooking main street and take it all in on a day like that. :cloud9: I need professional help :teeth:

Can i please give you some advice?

Spend most of the day doing things outside the park. Remember that locals from hours around all go to WDW on July 4. It's a "mad house".

If you dont get to MK early , you get locked out basically (not all of the time but in many cases) due to capacity.

However, here's the thing, the best fireworks show (in my opinion) is at Epcot.

I've never run into a situation on July 4 with Epcot closing due to capacity. So, spend the day outside of the park and then go in around 7:00. Trust me, to stay in the MK all day just to "soak" up the atmosphere will ruin your day.

IT'S MISERABLE!

The attraction wait times are 2 hours long (at both Mk and Epcot, so dont go to do attractions per se).

Basically in my opinion, if you go on July 4, you are going to see the fireworks. There's just not much of another reason to go on that day.

Epcot's fireworks are longer and MUCH better than MK's.

Also, just a hint: MK does it's July 4 show on July 3 as well. It's the exact same show. You can go on that evening and see the MK show with less crowd (though that's all relative, as it's still HEAVY).

Then on July 4, you can to go Epcot and watch that show at 10:00. The MGM show is at 9:00 and you can see it easily from Epcot, so you get to see all three shows on your July 4 vacation.

I think if you go to MK on July 4, you'll be doing the whole "they told me so" routine.
