I'm hoping for some guidance from the experts! I'm a teacher and have limited vacation times. We are trying to decide between two busy weeks. (Side note: We have no desire to get married in the summer.)

Presidents' Day Week: Week of Monday, February 21st, 2011
Week Before Easter: Week of Monday, April 18th, 2011

We intend to get married on the Monday of either of these weeks (or Tuesday if we can't get our venues). I understand both of these weeks will be crowded, but which would you choose and why? Also, if we get married on Presidents' Day, would anything be affected because it's a holiday? (Prices, etc.)

Thanks! :goodvibes

I said the week of Monday, April 18th, 2011, but I am biased. My DF&I are getting married Monday, April NINEteenth of this yr. because 1) I went to Disney during April vacation once and the weather was PERFECT, and 2) DF is a teacher, so this is his vacation time...which leads me to ask, are you from Massachusetts? As far as I know, we're the only ones who have school (pre-college) vacation that week because of Patriots' Day, so that's why I'm asking. :)

My fiance and I were having this exact same problem a few weeks ago and we finally decided on April. Crowds and hotel prices are similar for both weekends so the biggest factor for us was the weather. In February, it is really a toss up. I've been there when the weather was beautiful and I've also worn my winter jacket at times. But in April the weather is pretty close to perfect. Plus, we live in New England and I was concerned about flights being delayed in February due to snow.

Hope that helps!

I am from Massachusetts! We are unique with our "April Vacation." Since Easter falls late in 2011, April Vacation ends up being the week before when a LOT of other schools have vacation :headache: That's why I'm debating between the two weeks. Thanks for your help! We may end up being April vacation wedding date twins. :goodvibes

I was following your thread, actually! Were you looking at the same weeks as I am? What date in April did you end up choosing?! I've been researching the weather, as I'm not a fan of the heat...but I don't want to be freezing either! Thank you for your insight. (P.S. What state are you in?)

I think Feb. is a nice month because it can be already hot in April. I'm not sure if it will be less crowded in Feb. to be honest, but I remember it be very very crowd in the parks around Easter. Either time will be lovely though. GL!

You've touched on my exact concerns about April/Easter. Thank you for your thoughts!

ETA: I'm having such a hard time deciding. We're going to try and figure it out tonight! Does anyone have any other thoughts/experiences/opinions?

You're welcome. :) Yeah Disney around any holiday can be busy, but I remember not being able to move around easily at MK on Easter Sunday years ago. What about right after Easter if you are still thinking of April??? I've talked to a Cast Member who told me that right after Easter the parks do die down a bit before the summer rush begins.

We were just there at Christmas and found it manageable with proper planning...but, it was B-U-S-Y! I don't have any flexibility in my dates because I'm a teacher and we have to plan for one of my vacations (not summer-too hot!). Thanks again! :)

I would compare flight prices for the two. I'm from NY and I know around Spring Break / Easter flights can cost $500-$600 per person and sometimes even more than that.

I vote for April because look at the weather up north right now and how many flights are delayed or cancelled.I would hate to have to deal with the stress of possibly not being able to fly out for my own wedding or having guests not be able to join me due to the weather. Do you have a fall break? Or how about just doing a long weekend where you take a fri/mon off and then honeymoon at a later time? I am a teacher and we are just getting married a regular weekend and postponing our honeymoon til my next break because I did not want to get married in summer or when it's crowded!

Thank you for your help. I've never traveled around Easter, but I did look at flights for 2010 that would mimic the same time frame that we would be dealing with next year. It's hard because we're almost exactly a year out from the February date, so I can't make a good judgment about flight prices. As for the week before Easter, right now they're showing around $220. Thanks again! :goodvibes

No fall break here :sad2: Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of flexibility in terms of taking time off, but thank you for your suggestion! We are planning on postponing our honeymoon to a later vacation as well. :)

I'm in New Hampshire and we finally decided on April 3, 2011. The New England weather definitely played a role in our decision. I don't want our guests spending all this money on a vacation and then not be able to attend or be delayed due to weather.
