Help-1st trip to Disneyworld-from Australia

Hi all
We are currently arranging our first trip to Diney World with family of 4. Daughter 4 Son 7. We are going for 15 days in April/May 2006. We are staying at a Renatl House in Satinwood Circle Kissimmee. I am after any advice on things that we should or should not do as comming from the other side of the world I am not able to get Disney Info sent to me they wont do it. So I am at the hands of those who can offer any advice. I would also really love to know approx how long it would take by car to get to the parks from our rental. Any advice ideas would be great.

I'm not sure where that address is in Kissimmee. However, from Kissimmee in general it is about 10 minutes away. As far as general advice, I've never been to Australia so I would be just as uninformed about what is different in the US as you are! But I do want to reassure you that less than half the people at WDW are actually from USA. Most are from all around the world. So I would say you would be completely fine.

We just recently had some friends from Australia visit us here (in Ohio) and we went to the zoo and had a Disney princess party and I couldn't really see any difference, except obviously a few words that meant different things. They had girls: 4 yr old & a 7 yr old and my girls are 3 & 4. They had a great time. As with all international travel, bring the right electrical outlet converters and make sure you have a credit card that works in our ATM's for the best interest rates on cash.

My only advice to anyone coming to Disney is if you can manage it, stay on property. This especially applies as you may find right hand driving difficult. I know I was very apprehensive about driving in England and we ended up booking rail journeys.
What else - you will need an adaptor set for any appliances you bring. You might consider renting from a DVC member, it might be a little more than your rental house but you will save a tonne on not having to eat out for every meal. You will easily make up the difference as restaurants at Disney can be quite pricey.
I just got a package from disney with a CD. It's their magical gatherings CD from 2004 (they never send current stuff to Canada either). I would be happy to send it on to you if you want to pm me your address. Let me know of any other questions you might have!
If you are not planning on spending the whole time at Disney, Kissimme is probably fine - or maybe your could split your time betwwen the two- I have heard that Discovery Cove is quite wonderful.
