I am about to book a 4 night land/3 night sea package in the next few days. ONe TA that I spoke too suggested getting two category 10 rooms with ocean view window for $900 less than what it would cost for the category 4 deluxe stateroom with verandah. Obviously we would have 2 baths then which might be a plus since one of my DD's is 15! Need I say more? We also have a 7 year old DD and a 11 year old DS. But I kind of like the verandah idea and being on level 8. We've never cruised before - does anyone have any advice? Thanks! :confused3

You could get a cat 6 w/a cat 11 across the hall or two cat 6's but w/2 6's you will probably not save any money...

Cat 10s are inside cabins No Windows
We have 2 Cat 10's for Me DH and 4 DDs coming up.
Love the space.
267 Days til we sail on the 7 night Magic!!!

You could try to get two secret port hole rooms. You pay for a cat. 10 and get a obstructed porthole on level 5 (this is like a cat. 8 for a 10 price). The adjoining cabins are 5022-5024 and
5522 and 5524. Go to the castawayclub web site and check out actual photo's :earseek: of the port hole obstruction and see what you think.

That's what we did - have DD's 16 and 11 and DS 13, so I know what you mean about the 2 bathrooms. We got connecting secret porthole rooms, but there are only 6 of these rooms on the ship, so they go fast!

On our first 6 cruises, we went with a cat 4 or cat 6. On cruise #7 and upcoming #8, we have 2 connecting rooms and love the extra space and bathroom.

With a teenage daughter, we need every bit of it! :rotfl:

What category did you go with for the 2 rooms? Were they adjoining? With our family situation (boys 9 and 11) I would like to be 'connected' ;)

What if you don't book it as a package and save even more. If you booked the package, the resort rooms are based on the ship category. The 11 would be assigned to a moderate and the 6 to a deluxe. If you search for some resort discounts, maybe you'd save enough to have connecting category 6 or 7 rooms.

We did the 7 night and went with connecting cabins. But as someone mentioned, unless you are REALLY luck to get one of the 6 category 10 rooms on deck 5, Cat. 10 rooms do not have a porthole. You'd need either 8 or 9 for the window.

We got connecting rooms with portholes and loved the extra space and privacy and bathrooms.

I booked it yesterday and I am so excited. We ended up going with 2 Category 8 adjoining rooms. I really wanted at least a window to see the view and I was a little anxious about the verandah anyway (already had one dream that my youngest was hanging on it!) so the loss of the verandah was a good thing. The extra bathroom will be a huge plus for our 15 yr old DD. I did end up booking our package separately. It was a couple thousand cheaper to book the cruise and then book POR for the 5 nights previous. If I'd done a package they would have given us 2 mod. room because of having 2 staterooms. We don't need that. Booking as pkg was $8148 - booking it separately was $6045. Considering it's spring break I think we got a good rate. Now I need to find airfare!

BTW how do I get the ticker thing to get on my signature showing how many days before we leave?

Thanks!
Julie
