Hello.

This may sound strange, but we know very little about DW, other than that Epcot Centre, Universal Studios, and rides exist - honestly, we don't really know anthing about any of them either.

My husband and I will be visiting Disney World for the very first time and we're only staying 1 day. We will be driving about 1.5 hrs each way to get there/return to hotel.

We want to skip the rides, and stick with 'adult' type things to do.

I am looking for recommendations on how to spend a fabulous day in DW -open to all suggestions.

Thank you very much.
Heather

I thought I would add that hubby loves to watch 'Discovery Channel' and I love to learn about different cultures. We don't live anywhere near the ocean, so learning about sea creatures would be fun as well.

THanks!:)

A lot of the rides are "adult" type things, especially at Epcot. You might like Soarin', the Seas pavillion(although Nemo is there now), and World Showcase-which has two adult rides.

When are you going?

Hello - thank you for your reply. We are planning on DW on Dec 7/07.

Since I posted the question this afternoon I found a package for $113 per person and that includes a one day admission to Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, and Blue Man Group - I'm thinking that might be the way to go, unless someone has a better idea! :)

That's fine but it's Universal, not Disney World, and is mostly rides. Based on your interests, I'd strongly urge you to spend your one day in EPCOT, at Walt Disney World. You'll have Future World, with the world's largest aquarium and other deligtful attractions, and then all the countries in the World Showcase. In order to get the most out of your limited time, I'd also recommend buying a book like Birnbaum's Disney Without Kids, so you can decide in advance about the attractions that interest you both the most. While there's no Blue Man Group there, a beautiful fireworks and fountain show called Illuminations is included in your admission and takes place at 9 pm evey night. You can have a wonderful day at Epcot.

I have to agree with the previous poster. I do think you will enjoy your day much more if you go to EPCOT. There are so many 'adult' things to do there....and if you go, don't miss Soarin!

Universal is definitely a place to ride rides, and has a completely different atmosphere.

yea if you don't like rides you will hate IOA - it is mostly rides, US is not much better although it does have some nice shows.

Epcot is definitely the place for you and your husband.

future world - he will probably love it.

world showcase - you will love this - it has Mexcio, Norway, China, Germany, Italy, US, Japan, Morocco, France, Great Britian, Canada for the countries.

Norway and Mexico have a ride (I think Mexico ride is currently being changed).

China, Canada and France all have a film - but you can only sit down at France.

Norway has a ride then followed by a film. I love this film but some people complaint about it....:rolleyes1

the CM in world showcase come from that country. Disney hires them to come and work at WDW for one year (in some cases might be two years). then they go back to their native country.

so if you want to soak up different cultures - I think you would definitely enjoy World showcase.
