:earsboy: Hi there!

I'm new to this board. My SIL loves this site, so I thought I should come here. My DH and I are seasoned cruisers, but next year we will be taking our first DCL cruise. We will be taking a one-year old as well. We booked a 3 day land (staying at the Beach Club Resort) and 4 day sea (on the Wonder) for next December. We are really psyched. My DH hasn't been to Disney in over 20 years and I haven't been to Disney since 1998. If anyone has any experiences that they would want to share with me, I'm all ears!! :earsboy: LOL! Anyway...everything sounds really nice and would like to know some great places to eat (we like steak/seafood for the most part), things to do in the parks with a one-year old, stuff about Castaway Cay, etc. We've been to Nassau several times and perhaps this time, we'll stay on the ship or go have lunch at Hard Rock or something. Thought about the Glass Bottom Boat tour, but might be boring for the baby. Not sure. Anyway, any experiences you can share would be great. We are so excited!!! :bounce:

Firstly, welcome! :earboy2:

Congratulations on booking your first Disney cruise. IMHO, I believe you are doing the correct combination. If you've done the Disney parks then 3 days is enough to get to see "what you want". Then, four days is enough for a "first time" cruise. The day at sea is absolutely priceless and welcome after two "in-port" days.

Your choice to stay at the BC is a good one. You're nice and close to three GREAT steak places, however I'm not sure how they would be with a little one. :confused3 Someone else can comment on this. Anyway, the first is the Yachtsman Steakhouse right next to your hotel in the Yacht Club. Very good steak and seafood. The next is Shula's steak house at the Disney Dolphin. Again, very good. The steak soup is really good as well there. The last one is Le Cellier in Epcot. You can get more info on these on the Dining forum here -- just do a search. People have talked about all of these places over and over.

DW and I did the Ardastra Gardens tour at Nassau and just took it easy the rest of the time. Of course, we had to stop at Senor Frogs for a few banana daiquiris before we got back on board. :goodvibes At Castaway Cay, we enjoyed the adult beach very much, but you will like the family beach too. Again, do some searching for "Family beach" on here and you will see all the discussions pertaining to this. I highly recommend the soft-serve chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream that they serve! :) The BBQ lunch is really great, too, IMHO. If your little one is only 1 y/o, I dont think s/he will really care what you do - it will all be "boring". Just MO. :teeth:

What stateroom do you have on board? Since youre at a Deluxe Resort you at least have a Cat 6, so enjoy your Verandah, too!

Enjoy yourself.

Welcome to the DIS! I can't really help you with your questions, but

Hi! Thanks for your responses. The steak houses sound great!!

We are in stateroom # 6578, I believe. Looks like a good one.

We are quite seasoned cruisers, but have never been on DCL. Only X, RCCI and CCL. Can you tell me the differences?? DCL looks really nice and hopefully the baby will enjoy it (or nap the whole time). That's okay with us. We are going to have to go with the flow. When it comes to cruising, we really just like to relax. We enjoy the beaches, the island music, drinks (for hubby now only! ;) ) and just enjoying watching the water and being on the boat. We are not party hounds...we end up falling alseep too early! LOL! Sounds like it might really be the perfect vacation for us - especially with a one-year old.

Any "must-dos" out there for the little ones?? Maybe Animal Kingdom? Seeing those animals has to be a neat experience, I'm sure! I'd love to know more. Thanks! :earsboy:

Almost Special treatment on the Disney ships for everyone. :goodvibes From the moment you see the ship the first time!! It really stands out with it's red and yellow and black details. ::MickeyMo

The moment you step on board you are greeted and anounced to everyone and the cast members clap and welcome you on board. Mickey and Minnie are also there to greet you and wave as you board. I missed that on RCL this past January. No big ta-doo when you boarded.

They also have an awesome sail-a-way party and the ships horn sounds" When you wish upon a star". So much fun. :cool1:

There is also a " pirate: Pirate Themed night" on board with Fireworks shot off from the ship.

Make sure you take an evening and go to Palo. The adult restaurant on board the ship. The best food of the whole trip!! You will love it!

We have loved both our trips on the Wonder and are looking forward to the Magic in October.

One place we love to eat at WDW is "Ohana" at the Poly. Great view of the Castle and fun activities for the kids. Great food too! All the grilled shrimp,Turkey, steak and Pork you can eat. Grilled on these 3 foot skewers in an open fire pit in the center of the room. They will just keep bringing it too you. Then they end the meal with a fresh pineapple with carmel dipping sauce! yum! If you time your dinner around the Fireworks at MK they dim the lights and pipe the music in and you can enjoy the fireworks from the restaurant or go out to the beach at the Poly.

You will have a great time!
