Hi, i have been to WDW a few times in the past and we've booked to go in June so i'm VERY excited!!!

I will be taking my children for the first time, and it will also be thier first time abroad etc etc, i have a 4 yr old and 1 yr old twins all boys!

We are flying with virgin and my first question is do they have space for 2 skycots next to each other? i'm paranoid about being split up on the flight especially as it's the boys first time flying.

i'm taking my own car seats and buggys but wondered if anyone has any valuable tips on taking young children?

finally, can someone please tell me what ADR's are?

Thankyou x

WELCOME!!!

3 kids under the age of 5!!  (all boys!!  )
i hope your twins aren't climbers..

there are people on the board who should be able to answer your question..

anyway, welcome again!!!! so much information on this board....best place on the web!!!!!

i've traveled with little ones - back and forth to WDW from the time they were born....but never with twins and never with 3..
it was pretty easy with 2 (girl and boy - 2.5 years apart).

my one suggestion....put one of those leash things on the 4 year old.....
it sounds horrid, but in the mad dash of airports, it can be a lifesaver..
both of my kids were very easy going and would never have run away, but for travel we put on these wrist things - i think they were made by fisher price...it had a little animal on it and the child wore it on the wrist....and it was somehow attached to us...i don't remember how..
we only used it in the airports....

thankyou beth, thankfully my parents are coming too (safety in numbers! lol!)

we have a backpack with lead for my 4yr old (makes him sound like a dog lol) but i've been thinking about those id bracelets you can get for when we're in the parks as i'm terrified of loosing him, as for the twins they are pretty good boys but still nervous of the whole holiday thing!

Welcome to the DIS!

I've always found Virgin special assistance department helpful - give them a call and explain your needs. You should be seated in the bulkhead seats.

I got DD some paper wristbands to wear with our phone numbers on - got them from the website I got DD's school uniform labels from (sorry can't recall name)

I also found those backpacks with a leash on handy when DD was a toddler.

What are your dates. Gay days and star wars weekends are in June which can affect crowds.

I really recommend touringplans.com. Costs a few $ to subscribe for the year but gives you the best park each day.

ADR's are just dining reservations. The most popular meals like character meals book up in advance. If you fancy a character meal get it booked now - online on the disney website or by phone. At a buffet character meal your 1 yr olds eat for free.

A good plan is to get up early (you will be awake early with time difference), get to parks for opening. Then in the sfternoon have a rest/swim then back out for a bit in the evening.

Have a great holiday and if you need to know anything else please ask away.

another suggestion - make sure you have bottles ready to feed the babies during landing.....the sucking helps them clear their ears..
or if they use pacifiers, perhaps that also works i don't know.

also, take ear medicine...

i used to take children's antihistamine and also drops against painful ears..

my kids had terrible ear problems and we learned the hard way that landing was very painful for them..
after that first time, the doctor had us give them children's antihistamine to make sure their ears were clear...
and he also gave me drops for my daughters ears....against pain..

there are also now special ear plugs for planes, but i don't know if kids can use them...

but i might be scaring you with all this ear stuff...
my kids had ear problems all the time, not just on planes...
but even if your kids don't, i would come prepared just in case...

:welcome:

My biggest tip would be, don't expect to do everything. June is hot and humid, you will need to take your holiday at a slow pace, as a previous poster said take afternoon breaks for naps and pool time (especially with small children).
As you've been before you've got a good idea what your 4 year old will want to do, make these a priority and then anything you get to do after that is a bonus.

Advanced Dining reservations (ADRs) are a great way to get out of the midday heat and meet your favourite characters, ones like Chef Mickey at the Contempory Resort and Crystal Palace at the Magic Kingdom are popular because a) they have all the main Disney characters and b) its a buffet, so there will be food that will suit the pickiest of eaters, but they do book up very quick so an ADR is recommended.
A great site to look at for all the restaurants and reviews is www.allears.net.

Welcome, we took our 23 month old twins last oct and they loved it! We got one sky cot as they are not next to each other so you would be seperated. I would say ask for one etc so you get the bulkhead seats

Our girls loved it out there and we are takeng them back in nov this year

We also took our car seats and buggy as well

Enjoy

thankyou , some great tips here.

We're going 11th June for 3 weeks so plenty of time to explore and no need to rush everywhere, the heat is one of the things i was worried about with the babies, i'd heard about the feeding at landing so prepared for that one!

any other great tips for travelling with little ones? x

We first flew when DS was 5 and i prepared a bag with something new to give him every hour, so the first hour he played with the Virgin back pack they get when boarding, 2nd hour i bought the travel size game of Operation, 3rd hour i bought him a new Mr.Men book to look at etc. I don't think i packed exactly 9 items though. We also killed half an hour walking up one isle and down the next a few times.

we also had lots of little new toys wrapped up for them to play with on the plane..
and i also had lots of snacks for them....pretzels and like..
remember not to bring fruit - or if you do, be sure to leave it on the plane as you're not permitted to take it into the states..
but you can brings other snack foods...pretzels, biscuits, crackers, etc.
whatever your 4 year old likes..

oh...and bring a change of clothes for everyone in your carry on bags....
