There are few people in the world who can truly understand our shared dual addictions to Disney and photography. You're among friends. We don't need 12 steps.
Hello, my name is Paul. It's been 49 days since I last had a Disney World vacation... (and it's 209 days before my next)
1. buy a camera
2. go to Disney
3. buy a new camera and/or lens
4. go to Disney
5. buy a new camera and/or lens
6. go to Disney
7. buy a new camera and/or lens
8. go to Disney
9. buy a new camera and/or lens
10. go to Disney
11. buy a new camera and/or lens
12. go to Disney
13. realize that all of our lenses are too slow so we HAVE to ditch all of our lenses and can only 'settle' with f/2.8 lenses WITH Image Stabilizer.
14. go back and visit Disney
13. just to realize that all we need is actually a Hasselblad with a 22MP digital back and change all our gears all over again.
14. go back and visit Disney
15. finally realized all we need is a Sony Ericsson W810i 2MP camera phone with auto focus and flash.
16. now we no longer have money to go to Disney.
17. Have a debate, in your own mind, whether or not to lug a full size tripod around the parks just so you can attempt to get fireworks pictures at night!
I assume the full sized tripod for the medium format camera with f/1.2 lens, right? Preferabbly a full-weight Gitzo with a complete lighting crew.
Because that's the ONLY way to get somewhat decent picture of your kid and Mickey.
For fireworks, we should only go by renting the entire park for the fireworks and ask Disney to repeat the parts that we missed (especially the oh so difficult hidden mickey fireworks... I tried to get that more than a dozen times and keep missing it)
17. Try to convince your spouse that buying that lens/camera is a totally economically sound decision and that it will somehow save you money in the long run.
18. Agree with her/him that buying more DVC points is also good idea
19. Go back to Disney World (you didn't marry someone that didn't at least share THAT addiction did you?)
19. Buy more media cards.
20. Go back to Disney
21. (By this time Nikon and Canon will have come out with an 18-300 lens) so of course we'll all have to get that lens. which means,,,,,,,,,,,
22. Go back to Disney!!
My name is Kyle. It has been 3 months and 2 weeks since my last trip to Disney World. However, it is only 2 Months, 2 weeks and 6 days till my NEXT trip to Disney World.
Hello, my name is Martha. It has been 7 days since my last visit to WDW, which I have visited 9 times since getting my new camera (because everybody had cooler toys than me on this board) 6 weeks ago. (Not to mention Sea World twice and Busch Gardens twice in the last 7 days... oh but that's another board!) I don't know when my NEXT trip will be but I am sure it will be sometime in the next seven days!
I missed the rest of your posts until now. Very funny! Since we seem to have a theme going here maybe we should lobby for a name change to the Photography board. How about Disney-Photogaholics Anonymous (DPA)?
