HELLO ? MICKEY? ARE YOU THERE?It's me again, and again, and again.....TR STARTED 6/3

Today is the 26th day of April, and in 26 days I’ll be at Disney World! :woohoo: I don’t want my PTR to drag down, so I decided to enjoy a look back at my family’s previous trips.

Let me first say that I apologize for my pictures. I scanned them, and then uploaded them to PB, but I'm not sure how to cut out all the extra white stuff around them. So, just be patient with me! :)

Our first trip was in May 21-25, 2001. Elizabeth was 7 and Rachel had just turned 5 the previous month.

We had an early morning flight that Monday morning from Nashville to Orlando. These were the days before Magical Express, so we had purchased Mears shuttle transfer tickets to get us to our resort. We were staying at All Stars Sports. I had really wanted the movies, but it was unavailable, so sports it was.

I know that by the time we got to our resort, checked in and took a Disney bus to MK, it was a little after three. The afternoon parade was in full swing when we walked into the park. Here’s a picture of that first evening in the park.

It seems as if we headed back to MK the next morning on Tuesday. Here are the girls headed down Main St. that morning. Even though, they’re older, I’ve tried to take the same shot on every trip. :goodvibes

I think we had breakfast reservations that morning with a special set of friends.

And, look, MeMom, who stopped by to see us---- (Sorry that the picture is crooked---just the way I scanned it.)

However, it seemed as if Rachel was more concerned with Eeyore’s tail, more than anything else.

I couldn’t believe it, but that must have been our only character meal the entire trip. I couldn’t find pictures of any other ones. I was a Disney Virgin at that time. :sad2: If only I’d known then, what I know now.

On Wednesday, we headed to Animal Kingdom.

I know that we saw FOTLK, because I had lots of pictures. I remember that we sat near the first/second row on the end, and the girls were chosen to participate in the show. I had completely forgotten that the theater there used to be open-air.

Picture009.jpg

We stopped by and saw some friends at Camp Minnie-Mickey. I’m not really sure why I thought it was a good idea to swear short overalls!

That evening we headed over to Hollywood Studios, or whatever it was called back then.

Picture011.jpg

Believe it or not, our ½ days at AK and DHS, seems to be the only time we spent at those two parks!

The next day, Thursday, we headed to Typhoon Lagoon. Remember these were the great days, where when you stayed on site with a package, your ticket was called the Ultimate Park Hopper. Only Disney resort guests were eligible for this ticket. It gave you park hopping, never expired, and included the water parks and DisneyQuest. :thumbsup2

After a day at Typhoon Lagoon, we headed over to Epcot. Apparently, this Thursday afternoon/evening is the only time we spent there.

On Friday, we gave the girls their choice, and of course, they wanted to return to MK. I remember seeing some very special friends on our way out of the park that afternoon. Who knew that we were in MeMom's future special, secret spot? ;)

I remember that we left the park to return to our resort and swim a while. Then we changed clothes and caught our shuttle back to the airport. We had an 8 or 8:30 p.m. flight home that night.

As someone else (Stacy) stated, I guess I drank the kool-aid on this trip, because I fell in love with Disney right then and there. It would take us almost two more years to get back there, but it wasn’t for a lack of trying on my part!

Oh how fun was that little flashback. I love the picture of the girls walking down Main Street holding hands. So sweet!

I totally forgot about Festival of the Lion King being an open air theater back then too.

Hum, I guess since you posted your overall shorts then I can confess that I had a pair of white and orange plaid ones that I wore during one of our first trips to Disney. I actually quite liked them and I don't remember people looking at me funny (well funnier than they normally do) so they must have been in style back then.

What a great little flashback you had there! Oh my word, the shortalls?!?!?! At least you can say you have moved on.

Love the flashback and the old pics! I am reading Castmember Confidential right now, and he seemed to be a photographer at Camp Minnie-Mickey about the time you were there. It had me wondering if he might have taken the pic with Pluto and Goofy.

Thanks, Lisa!

I have to say that I laughed out loud when I read about your orange and white overall shorts. I just imagined those I have on in a orange/white plaid pattern. (Of course, a TIDE fan as myself, would never own anything orange and white! ;) )

I don't know about them being in style then.........I'm just glad they're NOT in style now! :rotfl:

Thanks, Megan! Yes, I have definitely moved on. After watching lots of episodes of what not to wear, I would now never wear overalls of any length! :rotfl2:

What a sweet update Michelle! I love all of those pics. We have a special photo we take every year also. We started taking it before there was a Josie. It kind of makes me sad to watch how my girls have grown but it's so sweet at the same time.

OT: How come you were flying out of Nashville? We fly out of Nashville too. I'm so excited for our upcoming trips and DIS meets! I almost can't stand it! :cool1:

Thanks, Susan. How good is the book?

If the guy did take the picture, I want to publically apologize for wearing such a get-up! :lmao:

Thanks, Leanne. I know it is sort of sad to see the pictures and remember how little and sweet they were. Now they're teenaged girls, but it's just all part of the circle of life! :goodvibes

The city where we live has a small airport, with only one carrier, so flights are pretty expensive. We could drive to Huntsville which is only an hour east, but if I remember, we got cheaper tickets out of Nashville that year. It is only about two hours north of us. In fact, now that Kevin flies at least once a month for work, he always goes out of BNA. He likes the airport and the long-term parking situation better. Plus, being in HR, he is always looking for a way to save the company money, which usually means southwest airlines.

I know----I am soooooooo excited. Good thing I have these boards, or I think I'd drive Kevin so crazy he might leave me before we even get to Disney! :rotfl:

I must confess I also owned two shortalls, not only that, they are still hanging in my closet. Do you think goodwill will take them or should I bury them?

I loved all of the 2001 pictures. I still have two minor park activities on an old ultimate ticket maybe I should try to use them on my next trip.

I love all of the flashback pics! It's so fun to take a look back :goodvibes The girls were just adorable :lovestruc And I literally laughed out loud at your overalls comment! :lmao: Hey, half the fun of looking back is the fashion, right?

Oh my gosh, those overalls look big enough to hold two of you! Isn't it funny to look back and see some of the crazy stuff we wore once upon a time? I've got plenty of pictures of me that make me cringe!

The girls were so little, and so stinkin' cute! I love the pic of them holding hands walking down Main Street :goodvibes

Great flashback! Your girls were so cute holding hands walking down Main street.

I have lots of pictures of me in 2001 wearing overalls but that's because I was pregnant and for some reason, they were SO much more comfortable than anything else I could find

Love the flashback! The girls were soooo cute! I had some shortalls too but mine had Winnie the Pooh on them...doesn't that make them ok?? :rotfl:

26 days! Woohoo!!:woohoo: (For the record, there's kool-aid in those mugs I'm swirlin')

Love the old pictures! The one of the girls holding hands is so cute. :goodvibes

Michelle, I have to say I teared up when I saw the picture of the girls walking down Main St. :sad1: How fast they grow up. I love looking at all my old Disney pictures.

I think we were at Disney at the same time that year. We stayed at POR. We loved getting the UPH tickets. That is when they still added the extra option to the package too; we chose the breakfast at Crystal Palace as our extra. That trip was very memorable for us and not in such a good way :sad1:.
