Today is the 26th day of April, and in 26 days Ill be at Disney World!
I dont want my PTR to drag down, so I decided to enjoy a look back at my familys previous trips.
Let me first say that I apologize for my pictures. I scanned them, and then uploaded them to PB, but I'm not sure how to cut out all the extra white stuff around them. So, just be patient with me!
Our first trip was in May 21-25, 2001. Elizabeth was 7 and Rachel had just turned 5 the previous month.
We had an early morning flight that Monday morning from Nashville to Orlando. These were the days before Magical Express, so we had purchased Mears shuttle transfer tickets to get us to our resort. We were staying at All Stars Sports. I had really wanted the movies, but it was unavailable, so sports it was.
I know that by the time we got to our resort, checked in and took a Disney bus to MK, it was a little after three. The afternoon parade was in full swing when we walked into the park. Heres a picture of that first evening in the park.
It seems as if we headed back to MK the next morning on Tuesday. Here are the girls headed down Main St. that morning. Even though, theyre older, Ive tried to take the same shot on every trip.
I think we had breakfast reservations that morning with a special set of friends.
And, look, MeMom, who stopped by to see us---- (Sorry that the picture is crooked---just the way I scanned it.)
However, it seemed as if Rachel was more concerned with Eeyores tail, more than anything else.
I couldnt believe it, but that must have been our only character meal the entire trip. I couldnt find pictures of any other ones. I was a Disney Virgin at that time.
If only Id known then, what I know now.
On Wednesday, we headed to Animal Kingdom.
I know that we saw FOTLK, because I had lots of pictures. I remember that we sat near the first/second row on the end, and the girls were chosen to participate in the show. I had completely forgotten that the theater there used to be open-air.
We stopped by and saw some friends at Camp Minnie-Mickey. Im not really sure why I thought it was a good idea to swear short overalls!
That evening we headed over to Hollywood Studios, or whatever it was called back then.
Believe it or not, our ½ days at AK and DHS, seems to be the only time we spent at those two parks!
The next day, Thursday, we headed to Typhoon Lagoon. Remember these were the great days, where when you stayed on site with a package, your ticket was called the Ultimate Park Hopper. Only Disney resort guests were eligible for this ticket. It gave you park hopping, never expired, and included the water parks and DisneyQuest.
After a day at Typhoon Lagoon, we headed over to Epcot. Apparently, this Thursday afternoon/evening is the only time we spent there.
On Friday, we gave the girls their choice, and of course, they wanted to return to MK. I remember seeing some very special friends on our way out of the park that afternoon. Who knew that we were in MeMom's future special, secret spot?
I remember that we left the park to return to our resort and swim a while. Then we changed clothes and caught our shuttle back to the airport. We had an 8 or 8:30 p.m. flight home that night.
As someone else (Stacy) stated, I guess I drank the kool-aid on this trip, because I fell in love with Disney right then and there. It would take us almost two more years to get back there, but it wasnt for a lack of trying on my part!
