Hello ladies

Just wanted to drop in so you know I'm not dead or anything!

I barely have time to get online right now so I'm just doing odd bits here and there. I haven't scrapped since about March 07, not a single thing so I feel I have little to contribute right now! Once we're moved and I can get organised I hope to be back crafting again but as I'm home so little it's not really worth getting it all out as it just has to be put back an hour later.

We're still living with Scott's parents Mon- Fri then at our home on the weekends but we're praying it will end soon as someone offered on our home this week and we're trying to finalise on the deal. Of course now we have another problem which is we can't get a mortgage unless we want interest rates that will effectively bankrupt us in months, so we have to do some serious financial planning to survive this year. We do have a house in mind, a brand new one that's just had its foundations laid, that would mean we can have it decorated our way initially and not have to pay out to redecorate someone elses bad taste!

Work is going ok but is mind numbingly dull. A girl was "let go" this week and they're training me to be her replacement so that means I'm earning too for now which eases the financial pressure a bit.

We spoke to the mortgage people today and were accepted so we've officially reserved the new house. Signing mortgage paperwork on Fri and new house paperwork on Sun assuming all goes to plan. DH was told he has the highest possible credit rating by the mortgage advisor on the phone this afternoon which means it *should* be smooth sailing where that's concerned.

We're very excited! We've also got the new house people to carpet the entire house and lay grass in the gardens for free, they'll also be providing our removals either free or very cheaply.

Make sure you air out the house after the new carpet is installed. The fumes can be strong and hurtful [at least the kind sold in the US can].

Glad to hear from you and that you've had some good news. Apparently spider plants are really good for "cleaning" carpet fumes from the air.

Are you getting the house builder to throw in any other nice extras (like upgraded tiling)? They were probably really pleased to see you so don't be afraid to try to get something extra - if not now, then if there are any delays have a plan in mind so you can say "OK, but we want you to..... in exchange". Hope there won't be any delays but with all the cold we've had this year its as well to be prepared

They're carpeting the whole house and turfing the back garden so that's a couple of grand easily we've got out of them in terms of extras, especially as they're fielding the removals cost as well. We're going over on Sun to look at options lists.

I like your thinking Mazda!!! We're having to put our funiture in storage for a couple of months as we'll be out of our current place well before the new one is built. Perhaps we could get them to at least fork out for any additional cost on the storage facility if they overrun?
