I have been posting on the DIS planning boards for a long time but I am brand new to this board.
My name is Michelle and I started the Atkin's diet and daily walking in April of 2002. I had/have a significant amount of weight to lose. By July 2003 I had lost 30 pounds or 10% of my total body weight. I was so happy and knew I had finally found the diet for me. In August of 2002 I started feeling sick and tired all the time. I thought for sure that I some kind of serious disease but kept delaying a trip to the doctor. Finally in September, right before a trip to WDW, my husband made me take a pregnancy test. IT WAS POSITIVE! After 7 years of infertility, due to my weight and a condition called PCOS, we were finally and unexpectantly pregnant. I have the Atkin's Diet and God to thank for that.
During my pregnancy I gave up the Atkin's Diet as per my OB's instructions. She did give credit to my weight loss as the reason I was finally able to get pregnant. My baby was born in March and I am finished nursing so now it is time to go back on Atkin's!
