I am a Disney fan since I was in my childhood years. I am finally realizing the dream as my family and I are going to Disney this coming December... Can't wait for it to happen...
Welcome aboard! December is my favorite time of the year to visit WDW; everything -- and I do mean everything -- is decorated for the holidays, and that makes the place just that much more magical. Maybe it's because my first trip there with my DW (though she wasn't at the time) started on Christmas Day.
If you have time, be sure to take a spin around the resorts while you're there as they have their own holiday traditions and decorations (such as the life-size gingerbread house at Grand Floridian).
You are going to LOVE your December vacation! Hands down its our favorite time of year to be in WDW. There are so many things to see and do during the holiday times ... make sure you get to head over for Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party in the MK and if you have time as the OP mentioned check out the other hotels on property and look at the wide array of Christmas decorations, its unbelieveable to say the least! The weather is nice, warm during the day, cooler at night just perfect!
Have a blast, we are also going to be there from December 3rd-9th at BWV!
Welcome! I have also recently planned a December trip, but its for 2009... the 10-17 at the Poly... CAN'T WAIT! We got back only a little over a month ago and I am so sad that we can't afford to go more often.... but we like to stay in style

Oh, man... I do SOOOOOOO know that feeling. I'm quite envious of an old college buddy who moved down to Orlando last year; of course he's not helping things when he texts me with stuff like "heading to Epcot after work today."
We're already going down to WDW the weekend before Thanksgiving (one of the few remaining times of the year we've never been), but we just couldn't wait that long... so I called DVC yesterday and we're going down this weekend.
Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed that Mickey doesn't bounce at the same time as the others?
