Hello!! Any Missouri DVCers?????

DVC Fans here! We are headed home to BCV for New Years Eve and then the 3 Day Wonder Cruise. Hey DisFlan we LOVE Roaring River State Park and love to camp there. Any other Missouri DVC friends going to be there over the holidays?

I really want to go to WDW or DL during the holiday time. I have yet to do that and I hear it is wonderful! We are going to Jamaica this Dec, so I am hoping for next year! Don't get me wrong I am thrilled to be going to Jamaica!

My daughter was just accepted in the Disney Career Start program and will be working at the parks through the first week of January.

That's wonderful! My DD is a college senior and would have liked to have been in Disney's CP but didn't want to take off a semester so she could graduate with her roommates in May!

We live in O'Fallon, MO, close to highways 40/64 and K.
Hey, I've been shopping at the Kohl's on Hwy. K!!!! Now we have a Kohl's in central missouri--in columbia! Hooray! I had an aunt and uncle that lived in O'Fallon for years and cousins that still live in Florissant!

Any of you Springfield neighbors been to the Disney outlet store in Branson lately? Might be heading that way this weekend to visit friends in Arkansas.

Donna

OHHH there are Disney outlets in Branson? I have lived in the STL area all my life and have never been to Branson.

Add us to the list, we met Ruth and Paul and Granny at Fritz's a year or so ago, probably have passed Ryan a number of times, we live at 94/40 in St. Charles!

Mike

OP here. We are leaving tomorrow for WDW. I am stuck at work tonight so I am on here to pass some time away. I am happy to see we have quite a few of us so far. I will not be on here till the 21st when we get back. I would like to ask that everyone please keep this going for us. :thumbsup2

mikayla--just back from Branson and there is a Disney Store outlet at the Tanger Outlet mall in Branson. It seemed to have the same things a Disney store in the KC or STL malls would have. No good bargains anyway! We also stopped at the new stores at Branson Landings and they had a Disney Store too!!! Neither of them are like the Character Premier outlet at the Premier outlet mall in Orlando.

Hixski--Hope you are having a great time in WDW!

Just saying hello to my DVC neighbors from southern Illinois...Herrin to be exact, which is 10 miles east of Carbondale and 5 miles west of I-57 (Marion). I grew up in this area, went to SIU-C where I received a lot of flack for supporting St. Louis sports from all the Chicago folks, but hey! It's the biggest city near home. :confused3

We've owned at SSR since November 2004 and have made good use of our points since and love it! :goodvibes This year we've got some new schedules to deal with so I'm not sure when our next trip will be...but I'm always keeping tabs on airfare...STL is our closest (and preferred) airport, but Nashville, TN is only an hour further and has some great fares occasionally.

I know there are several other DISsers in the Metro East area and southern Illinois that just haven't chimed in yet. Who knows? Maybe we could have one of those DIS meets of our own in the St. Louis area...

I hope everyone has a magical day!

Hi there! MO DVC member here...St. Louis to be exact. Our first trip as DVC owners is in less than 2 weeks!

Well, I am from Misery, does that count?

Grew up in Otterville, Sedalia (home of the state fair...which amazingly NO one I have ever met from Missouri has a clue about) and Warrensburg!

My dad and his entire family all live there in that area. Some of my mothers side of the family live in Independence.

We live just 40 minutes from Sedalia and have been to the State Fair many times. In fact, DD will be student teaching in Sedalia this spring! And, of course, I have had to stop in Otterville to see the place where Jesse James robbed a train. I'm a graduate of CMSU and also have family living in Independence! So I know where all those places are! I think that's enough to make you an honorary member! Welcome!

Donna

OMGosh!! I grew up with my grandpa telling us about where Jesse James robbed the train and everyone I take there...or took (haven't been back in 8 years and will NEVER go back again) I should say, I would show them and tell them the tales he told. I actually thought it was just something he made up!!

And my aunt runs the new Diner in Otterville. Old 50 Hwy Diner, great old place (they redid it recently). Supposed to be a 50s style diner, sort of like the 50s Prime Time, just not with the antics.

At one time, they actually had a historical marker there telling about Jesse James. Of course, I haven't actually been in the town of Otterville in years now that Highway 50 bypasses it.

Might have to try out your aunt's diner though. We get together with my DSis and DB and their spouses every couple of months and go out to eat someplace different.

So, I take it you are really glad to have left Misery, or Missouri, that is?

Donna

Yeah Donna, don't care for the lifestyle out there....specifically the areas I listed. My family and pretty much everyone they/I know out there, do NOTHING with their lives. None have don't anything or go anywhere at all, most have never even left the county, let alone the state or country. One of the reasons my mother moved us away from there, she didn't want us being like that. I could go on, but I won't. Nothing personal to anyone on this board of course! You all obviously have a clue there is life outside of the city limits!

I understand MemoryMaker! I know a few of that type also. I'm sure you can find that kind in any state though. As long as they are happy though, who are we to judge?

The only thing I don't like about Missouri is WINTER!!!!! We live in a nice area, very close to Jefferson City, Columbia, and the Lake of the Ozarks and not too far from KC, St. Louis, and Branson. Also, by living in the middle of the U. S., it doesn't take us too long to fly to either coast.

I haven't been too far east yet though--Gatlinburg, TN was the farthest. What are the best things to see in northern Virginia?

Donna

Well Northern VA is a suburb of Washington DC, we border it, so that would be our main thing. Also, NOVA is home of the Manassas battlefield, so lots of war history for those that like that. Lots of polictical history as well. We have the new Air and Space Museum here...Smithsonian, very neat. Also, on one side is the ocean and the other the mountains, so the best of both worlds. Just an hour or so to either, great day trips.

Donna, let me put it this way. My entire family could move to California, New York, Florida and I still wouldn't go visit! So, has nothing to do with the state itself. I just have no reason to ever return really. Same as I wouldn't go to most of the US states for vacation, I wouldn't go there either. I am addicted to Disney right now and we love to cruise, so those are our passions for now. Perhaps one day I will get the bug to see the USA, but for now I just don't. I have seen a lot of it, we lived all over it actually, from CA to CT and in between.
