Hi all,

I got lost in a sea of work and haven't been on the boards for what seems like months...and it probably is. I have missed the chat. I never even finished my trip report, work just took over.

So what's new? I have booked, to celebrate my DH 40th birthday a trip for the two of us in March 08. Yip that's right we're not taking the children.... if feels so wrong!!!! :guilty: but exciting too  .

I hate flying so I am going for hypnotherapy (already started the treatment) to see if this will help. I've tried drugs (the ones the doctors gives) and alcohol. But nothing helps. I will not give up though.

I've booked a flydrive with Virgin. We went with them this year, it wasn't great but they did offer the best price. I've booked us two seats way way at the back of the plane. Where it becomes 2 seats only. I'm hoping I'll enjoy the flight more this time.

Once we get there, I've upgraded our car option and hired a great 4 bedroom villa with an owner. Why the 4 bedrooms? Well I wanted to check it out as it looks nice and we could go back with the girls and my mum. This villa is spilt, 3 beedrooms in the main house and another bedroom with bathroom at the opposite of the pool - called a cabanna. It looks like it could give some privacy but offer a family holiday too. So, going to check it out and see if it would work.

I'm looking forward to seeing Orlando through adult eyes without worrying about covering the girls in sun cream, making sure they are drinking lots, wondering where the next toilet is and waiting for the next "I'm hungry cry". However, once I'm there I believe I'll miss all of that terribly!!!! I love being one big happy family of 5 :grouphug:

We are both excited about going back. I wish is was now. Work is very unenjoyable currently I'd love to just move over there and never come back....

Speak soon.
Vicki

 it is amazing how much ground you can cover without kids in tow!

we went on first 2 trips without kids, and the rest with: and boy were we slow!

enjoy your time together, book some romantic meals etc. your relationship IS worth it! :cloud9:

hi vicki :) congratulations on booking your trip and welcome back to the boards x x

Hi

thanks for all the nice welcome backs.

I can imagine how much we will get done without the girls. I'll miss them dearly but just getting them up and dressed and out the door can take a long time. Don't think we have made it many times early into any park. I've tried, oh boy have I tried :lmao:

I know all about that. I've been seriously neglecting my DISing lately. :guilty:

So wrong, but so right :teeth: . An adults only trip to Disney is a rites de passage no-one should feel guilty about. You'll have a fantastic time.

Been there, done that, got the t-shirt. I did an Aviatours "Fear of Flying" course. That, together with the medication and the familiarity has helped no end. The familiarity is the key, though - great excuse to book more trips. :thumbsup2

Is it on Reunion by any chance? That's the only place I know where this set-up exists. If so, you're gonna love it!

Were we separated at birth? :confused3

Thank you

It is exciting. We are going to go to Magic Kingdom on our first full day there. This year we waited until the second week to go to Magic Kingdom and it didn't feel right. So we're off there first to start the holiday right!

My DH birthday is on the Saturday. As it's Mardi Gras time we will be catching beads to celebrate. It made my holiday (this year) to see DH wearing beads :rotfl: . In the UK he is the most reserved typical Bristish chap going but put him in Universal or Disney and a new side comes out  It's great ! :woohoo:

I have thought about a fear of flying course. That will be my next step if this treatment doesn't work. I agree totally the more times I go the better I'll feel.

I mentioned at work that we are going to Orlando for DH 40th and they thought we were really odd. Comments like "What you're going back again?" etc... Most of these people have never been so they haven't given the magic a try. Two others have been last year and they hated it! Eh? I find that hard to understand!!!

I'm not sure where Reunion is. I'm gonna try to attach a map (I haven't doen this for awhile so it might not work)..... The Villa is off the 27.

:flower3: That would be nice....I'm an only child always wanted brothers and sisters.

Well, well, well... look what I've found.

I'm the DH in question. I was surfing this forum looking for ideas on places to eat at our upcoming kid-free trip to Orlando. Don't worry, I haven't spoiled any surprises; she's already told me the places we're booked in to eat. She also has a list of other places that have been suggested that we can try when we feel like it.

We're actually starting our first full day in Florida with a trip to WDW and the Ohana Breakfast at the Polynesian Resort. As you can probably tell from my chosen User Name I'm a big Stitch fan. I'd never admit that to anyone outside the family or the fellow Dis-addicts on this forum. Anyway, I couldn't think of a better way to kick the holiday off.

We went to Orlando this year and visited other parks before we got around to Magic Kingdom. Something didn't seem right about that. This time, right after breakfast, we'll be boarding the monorail and heading to MK. In my opinion the holiday doesn't start 'til you're strolling down Main Street towards the castle with the train tooting load and proud at the station behind you. <sigh> Can't wait.

And this year I am getting my photo taken with Stitch instead of just taking pictures of my 9 year old doing it... so there! :snooty:
