Mayo. Something that can make or break a burger/sandwich for me.

Anyone know exactly what brand DCL serves??

If not, outta the choices given, which brand is most like what they offer!

Thanks!

I converted DH from Miracle Whip ( sorry, MW fans, but I just don't like it :crazy2: ) to mayonnaise shortly after we were married. In the last few months, we've been using Hellmann's Light and been quite happy with the taste.

Sure do hope that DCL will be offering either Hellmanns or Kraft mayo (or something very similar)!!

The condiments available for the hamburgers served out on deck are offered either in little plastic packets or in large stainless steel squirt "buckets" and I do not remember seeing a brand anywhere. My theory is that as the stuff is sitting it an outdoor "condiment island" the white spreadable stuff would probably not contain real egg because of the spoilage..Thus, no real mayo...

With modern preservatives, that's real mayo with eggs in the packets. Your burger will spoil before that mayo will.
I'll eat any brand of mayo. Grew up on Miracle Whip, and it will never knowingly touch my lips again.

So much for that theory...But I agree about the Miracle Whip...Yetch!

Is there a reason, besides just not enjoying the taste, that people are grossed out by Miracle Whip? :confused3 Anyway, I usually keep both MW and mayo on hand for different purposes. (I do not consider them as the same condiment!) There are times and/or recipes that require real Hellman's mayo, but there are also lifeless sandwiches that cry out for the "tangy zip" of Miracle Whip. (I don't know what this banana means, but it cracks me up!)

Funny this thread has popped up... I work in a high school, and I just overheard one of the principals telling a student that he always puts Miracle Whip on his bologna sandwiches. :goodvibes

53% think DCL serves Mayo and almost 30% think it is Miracle whip....

I wonder if some voters just picked their fave, and not what they think DCL serves.... hmmmmm

I'm with those above (and surely to follow) who say BLECH to Miracle Whip. Can't stand it ... :confused3

Miracle Whip, and Kraft, are not condiments, they are in the same category as SPAM, who the heck would eat that stuff. Hellman's is the best, NOTHING like it!!!!!! :confused3

I like the Kraft Light -- tasty as light can get. We have "Best Foods" brand here in the Pacific Northwest -- I think that is the same as Hellman's. For full fat, Best Foods is definitely my favorite, but their lower fat version is yucky. :upsidedow

I vote for Hellman's as well, but if you really want to surprise your taste buds, whip up some fresh mayo! It's not hard to make, but must be used in a few days, since it's preservative free. I'll see if I can find my recipe................

Best Foods makes both Hellman's and Best Foods, they sell it as Hellmanns "east of the Rockies" as it says on the jar I just checked in the fridge. (sort of like Dreyers Ice Cream, it's sold under the company name, Dreyers in the west, and as Edy's made by Dreyers in the east)
Frankly, in the dining room, I'm surprised they don't serve homemade mayo. I can understand the need for packets at Pluto's Dog house.

Watch what you say about SPAM, there is NOTHING better than a SPAM sandwich with Best Foods Mayo, lettuce and tomato on it.

As for Miracle Whip, it always tastes like rancid mayo to me. My DM is 82, and has FINALLY stopped trying to fool me with Miracle Whip in her potato salad. She even tried making it with half mayo and half Miracle Whip and I could tell just by the smell.

As Shakespeare said, "Much Ado About Nothing".

SO true... it seems most folks are sharing their favorite brand of mayo and not reporting what brand DCL uses...

I did phrase the question poorly and take full resposibility for Nothing... LOL

I didn't vote as I haven't the slightest idea what DCL serves.

On the other hand, I do want to get my minority "vote" out there for Miracle Whip - I'm astonished at the number of people shunning the wonderful sinfully delicious sandwich spread! And I couldn't imagine potato or macoroni salad without it!
It would like fries without Heinz Ketchup.

I am hungry. :rotfl:

Store bought potato or macaroni salad = MIRACLE WHIP

Homemade = MAYO

Just like some young folks now don't like butter, they grew up with margarine and think butter tastes funny.

My dad used to work for a local tomato cannery.....so can't say bad things about Heinz since they bottled that, S&W, Hunts and their own brand there.
All good, all the same recipe. Only the bottle and label were different.
