Well, I had the day off and decided to go see the latest comic book movie adaptation, Hellboy.
A quick summary -- in 1944 US soldiers land on an island off the coast of Scotland to stop some Nazis, led by Grigori Rasputin (the mad monk from Tsarist Russia), from unleashing a cadre of demons on Earth. They're partially successful, because one got through -- a baby demon the soldiers nickname Hellboy. HB is raised by FDR's advisor on the paranormal and becomes the secret weapon of the Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defense. 60 years later, Rasputin is back, along with a couple of immortal Nazis, and trying to bring the 7 demons of chaos to Earth.
Yeah, on the surface it's far-fetched, but hey, it's based on a comic book. I've never read the comic book so I don't know how faithful it is. Still, it was a very good action movie, well acted and well paced. Think of it as the X-Men meet The Men In Black.
