Hello Everyone,

I need to know if they use Heinz Ketchup on the ship. I only
like Heinz and I need to know if I need to bring my own bottle

thanks, If anyone knows:bounce: :wave2:

I don't have an answer to your question, but you're just down I-80 from me. Did you see the story on Heinz Ketchup on the news this week? On the new "W" Ketchup?
I guess some folks are upset the sales of Heinz Ketchup are benefiting John Kerry !!!! So they are marketing "W" Ketchup, with proceeds going to charity. Only in america.
Sorry moderators, I know this is off topic, but amusing just the same.

Well, that is funny!!! things people will do and say!!
it has been benefiting him for as many years he has been married to his wife.....the only difference now ,he is running for President

I still LOVE MY ONE AND ONLY KETCHUP,,,HEINZ

So, maybe I will bring my own bottle just in case they do not
carry it on the ship

They have small packets of ketchup up on deck, not sure if it is Heinz or not.

Room service has those small glass bottles of ketchup but again, can't remember if they are Heinz.

You really want to bring your own bottle??? I also love Heinz but found I was fine with whatever was onboard.

MJ

I think I remember it being Heinz, but you may want to being your own bottle just to be sure.

I didn't use ketchup on anything in the dining rooms, but my kids did. The assistant server made a Mickey head on the plate when she served the ketchup.

VEDWARDS,

My husband's grandfather used to work for Heinz. Even after he retired he would bring a bottle of Heinz ketsup and mustard, just in case. If they didn't use Heinz, he would leave it on the table for the restaurant--kind of a hint. My husband still makes us buy Heinz.

We're a Heinz-only family, too, LOL. ::yes:: Happy to hear our burgers will taste "normal" while onboard!

I know for a fact that they use Hienz ketchup on the ship!! No need to bring your own!!

As you can see we live very close to Pittsburgh, Pa. and we are very proud of our little ketchup plant!! On our cruise our servers would joke with us about being lucky to live near the ketchup plant. They said everyone on board wanted Hienz Ketchup! It's the only brand we buy!!

In fact, we are season ticket holders to our Pittsburgh Steelers (no BOOS please) and at our "new" stadium, Hienz Field, they have giant massive ketchup bottles that tip over and "pour" ketchup onto the jumbotron at the begining of each game and each time the Steelers score! (It's really kinda embarassing!! )

But I am sure you will all agree that Hienz makes the best ketchup or catshup in the whole wide world!!!::yes::

Big "BOOS" to EmmasGrammy from Cleveland! Well, at least you have the greatest ketchup in Pittsburgh! (Sorry, couldn't resist)

I haven't heard this story but have heard that Kerry's wife owns Heinz which is false so I don't see how Kerry would be benefiting by Heinz.

Emmasgrammy ~
Be proud of the massive ketchup bottle, no one else has one! GO STEELERS!!!

Sorry Phamton, but someone misinformed you. John Kerry's wife IS the majority stockholder of Heinz.
But the best part of this is that the ONLY real difference between ketchups (or catsups) is the spices. My dad worked for a cannery for years. The cook up the ketchup base and can it in huge barrels. As various companies place orders, they mix in the spices and bottle it in that brands container. They had contracts with Heinz, Hunts and Frenches, as well as marketing their own brand (Sacramento) and various local store brands.

Well according to an official statement from Heinz, Kerry's wife isn't a majoirty stockholder:
http://www.heinz.com/jsp/presidential_statement.pdf

She doesn't own anything close to a controlling interest of the company's stock. According to Heinz itself, the Heinz family trust which Mrs. Kerry inherited sold most of its shares of Heinz stock back in 1995 and currently holds less than a 4% interest in the company.

Quote from the official Heinz statement:
"Neither Mrs. Heinz Kerry nor Senator Kerry nor any of the Heinz trusts or endowments — either individually or collectively — holds a significant percentage of shares of the H.J. Heinz Company. In 1995 the Heinz Endowments and family trusts sold a large percentage of Heinz shares in a secondary share offering to diversify their holdings. As a result, their current holdings are under 4 percent."

Although a 4% stake in a company as large as Heinz still represents a considerable amount of money, but it isn't nearly large enough a share to give the holder any significant control or influence over the company's business decisions.

It makes them the largest single stockholder. But that really doesn't matter, just amuses me on these boards how many people have to have a certain brand of something on board the ship. I guess if DCL was a gourmet line they would make their own ketchup on board!!!!

I had to double check to make sure you weren't my sister writing this. She won't eat at any restaraunt that doesn't have Hinz. She caries the packets with her to a new place just in case.
It is definitely Heinz though one of our servers taught my daughter to hit the 57 on the bottle to make it come out faster.

Oh the information you learn on the DIS boards! Thanks for asking this. I would have never thought about it, but my DD is obsessed with only using Heinz ketchup. Nothing else will do for her. This is great to know. She can eat her french fries with a smile on her face!

DH was happy to hear about the Heinz onboard. He prefers Heinz but will use something else in a pinch.

He could not believe that I actually knew what kind of Ketsup
they have onboard. He was totally amazed. Said he told the
girls he works with that if they want to know anything about a Disney cruise to just ask his wife, because even though we haven't been on one yet, I seem to know "everything" about it.

Thanks to these boards that is.

Only 455 days to go.
