Height: TOO TALL??

I know there are minimum height requirements but are there any maximum? My daughter's boyfriend is 6'8" and she is concerned he may be too tall. Any thoughts.

There are no maximums; however, DH is 6'5" and swears he will never go on the Matterhorn again. Nothing happened, he just gets nervous around on of the curves - every time. LOL

We have a friend who is 6'10" who was asked by a CM to sit in a "test" vehicle at Space Mountain because they were concerned his legs would not fit. In the end, they let him choose. He decided not to ride due to comfort.

Hmmm, 6'8" will be pushing it, I think. DH is 6'5" and fits on most everything, but Space Mountain and California Screamin' are the two that are "touch and go", Space more so than Screamin'. For Screamin' his knees touch the front, but for Space, he literally has to rock back and forth to wedge himself down into the seat - and getting out is just as challenging.

Yeah...I think Space Mountain will be PAINFUL on the legs for someone 6' 10". My dh is 6' 6" and while he can force himself into the restraint, he literally came away from the ride with black and blue marks on his knees. He won't be riding again...

My DBF is 6' 3", he has issues in the Space Mtn cars and he doesn't much like Mullholand Madness, known now as Goofy's Sky School. The cars on that ride are just tiny and it's not comfortable at all. He likes the Matterhorn, and I sit with him on that ride.

DB is 6'8" and he has no problems with hitting his head on any rides. The only problem that he has is getting into SM as he has really long legs and couldn't fit under the lap bars. He had to forgo the ride which really sucked cause that was one of his favs. Anyone with long legs is going to have problems with that ride; I can barely fit and I am only 5'11". Other than that, all rides should be good for your daughter's boyfriend.

Edit: One other ride that I almost forgot to mention that might be a problem is the Finding Nemo subs. That is a very tight, enclosed environment and those seats aren't very big with hardly no leg room in front. DB didn't go on it the last time we were at DL but I would imagine that it could be a problem.

I second that Space Mountain will be tough, I'm 6'4 and I have trouble getting in and out of that one. I'd recommend skipping Goofy's Sky School and Gadget's Go Coaster (won't be missing much with either) and maybe tell him not to put his hands ALL the way up on the Matterhorn. I'm sure if there is any danger of him really getting hurt the CMs would let him know. (I've never been told I'm too tall for a ride at Disneyland, but it had happened at 6 Flags.)

I'm 6' 4" and I wouldn't recommend Goofy's Sky School or Gadgets Go Coaster. Screamin could be kind of iffy. I have to slouch some to get the restraints over my shoulder.

The Nemo subs are very cramped as mentioned, but I think if you're on the very end, you get more room? Not sure if it would be enough... In a pinch one could also feasibly "intrude" into someone else in the party's space, I'd think.

(But if he doesn't like small spaces and/or doesn't love Nemo, I think it's fine to skip. Actually, if he hates small spaces but loves Nemo, he can see the "alternate viewing experience.")

You could always ask to do the alternate viewing experience at Nemo. That would eliminate the sub factor and still let you enjoy most of the same experience.

DH is 6'4" and the advice everyone has already provided here for you is great. I just wanted to chime in with one other "ride"....the tram! If you park in the Mickey & Friends parking structure and take the tram over, beware that there is not much leg room. While my DH is quite tall, he is mostly torso and not very leggy, but those seats are just too close together for his knees. Best word of advice I can give for this is to avoid the first & last car of the tram, and try to sit in the front row of any other tram car. That way his knees won't be black & blue before you even get into the parks.

So far I think everyone has pointed out some of the more difficult ones. I'd like to add Haunted Mansion to the list... not that you wouldn't be able to fit (legroom shouldn't be a problem), but you're going to spend most of the ride hunched forward, due to the back of the Doombuggy hitting your head.

The end seat does have more leg room on Nemo. Also, given the nature of the seats, if your party includes a little one, they can sit in a lap to give... uh... broader members... a little more room. (DH held DD1 on his lap and sat on two seats.

He won't ride Gadget or Mullholland/Goofy again. He won't ride a closed cage on the Casey Jr. Train.

He's 6'4'' 400. Height is a bigger issue than weight for him. Weightwise he won't do the Storybook Canal boats because he's convinced he'll tip one over.

I think it all depends on your DBF's individual size and shape. Just because one person of similar height/build have issues on some rides doesn't mean he will and vice versa.

DH is 6'5" as well and has trouble on very few rides at DL. There are other amusement parks that he can literally go on NONE of the rides because of his size, Great America up here in Northern CA being one of them.

He not only has long legs, but a very long torso and large shoulders. He's certainly not a muscle-y type and not super overweight either, but there are a lot of shoulder restraints that just won't fit. He also has an issue because his feet are ginormous (He wears a size 18 shoe.) and once got his feet stuck on a roller coaster on the East Coast many moons ago.

He has NO problems with the shoulder retraints on Screamin', Space Mountain or anything else. He goes on Matterhorn with no problems, even riding with the kids (one of whom is taller than me these days) or me sometimes (that's a tight fit, but do-able). Never had a problem on Haunted Mansion and that's one of our favorite rides too.

Nemo we vowed to never go on again. Not only is it claustrophobic, but it's way too tiny a space for someone of his size. The only other ride that's ever been an issue is Mullholland Madness, now Goofy's Sky School. Since all they did was update the theming, but left the ride the same I think we'll continue to skip it. He gets jerked around too much and I swear there's a spot he could get decapitated! (At least it looks that way riding behind him!)

I'm 6'2" and have trouble fitting into Space Mountain. There are actually two problems with it:

1. The lap bars are individual
2. The room between the seat and the front of the car or the seat in front of it.

There are simple solutions to these problems though. One one vehicle remove two rows and change the lap bars to be one for both people in the remaining row, again you would only need to do it for one ride vehicle, that way it doesn't really affect capacity, but it would allow more people the opportunity to ride.
