I plugged in my sons height on DIS's height calculator and came up with a list of rides that he is too small for, but I was curious if anyone knew if that means alone. :confused3 What I'm asking is, would he be allowed to ride some of these rides with an adult? Primeval Whirl, Tomorrowland Indy Speedway, Space Mountain for example.

Thanks!

Minimum height is with or without an adult, so if he doesn't meet the minimum requirement he will not be able to ride. EXCEPT....Indy Speedway is 52" to ride alone.

For Space Mountain and Primeval Whirl you have to meet the height requirements.

As an aside - I was looking at a guide book this morning that said Primeval Whirl was a kiddy roller coaster designed for kids under 10, but it has a height requirment of 48"!. My short DD who will be turning 8 on this trip is only 47" tall and will not be able to ride. So why does Disney design a ride that is restricted to so few people?

I can confirm that WDW is very strict about height so a child who dosen't meet the restriction can not ride at all. The speedway height is a minimum to ride alone however so in that case you can take your child on the ride and they can even drive, as long as you are in the car together.

As for Primeval Whirl, it is certainly not a kiddie coaster, either the guidebook is mistaken or maybe your thinking of the barnstormer coaster. PW is a wild mouse type coaster that has tilt a whirl type cars that spin on the corners, its pretty jerky and spins a bit. Our family loves this ride and we are all over 10 :)

Missy,
Don't worry, there will still be plenty of fun things your ds can do. So far the only ride with a height requirement that my ds CAN ride is The Barnstormer in Toon Town. We still had a great time on all our trips to both WDW and DL with him. I am hoping he will have hit the 40" mark by September though so that he can try some new ones. He's a little daredevil so I know he would love it. :)

On the Dis home page, there is a big ad under the featured selections that states "Touring the magic Kingdom with small children" and then as you read down there is a link for height restriction. I am going to try to past the link for you. :badpc:
