Height restriction issues

Can you explain it to me? You could do it outside the main gate and get measured pre-RD then avoid disappointment as possible confrontations with CMs. They have this at Hershey an it was a huge help, plus we didn't waste time standing on lengthy queues only to be turned down.

Disney used to do this. On our second trip, I was barely 40 inches. We went to a location way back in Toontown, I was "officially" measured and got a wristband for the rest of the day. I guess the system didn't work though.

The system didn't work because parents SUCK. :sad2::sad2::sad2:

The system probably worked for 98% of the people but you will always have that 2% who are cheaters and will put their own needs about the rules. :sad2::sad2:

I HATE that we live in a society where we have to cater to the lowest common denominator.

Nope. My daughter did TT and measured fine outside and inside and did it. Went through again - two measurings and fine. Since they were letting us skip the pre-show, this was really close to each other for each ride. Went again - made it on the outside measure but not the inside! They wouldn't even measure her twice. The same person had measured her and passed her right before. I didn't fight it, as that would have been useless. Instead of being frustrated, I told my daughter that at least she had made it on. We hadn't thought she would be tall enough even once. On that trip, we learned that she made every 40" ride that she did as a very first ride. After that, it was a gamble. By afternoon, we learned she was never tall enough.

I wouldn't do anything out of the ordinary to get your child tall enough, but regular sneakers like running shoes might do the trick. If your child needs new sneakers, then getting new ones might help - as the cushion in them won't be as compressed as older running shoes.

I have heard of this happening before but it seems absolutely bizarre that any CM would think that half the "close" kids coming through the line wouldn't fall under the line if they took off their 1/4-1/2in soled shoes. And that's with nothing in them. Basically ANY kid who just hits the mark is going to be UNDER it if they take their shoes off, so unless they make every kid take shoes off OR the measuring stick is actually set at half an inch above the required height and then they measure barefooted with an actual tape measure, it is patently unfair.

I agree that the child may very well grow between now and then.

I've only seen it done when something was obviously up, like the shoes were platform/heels/boots. I've never seen it done for a kid wearing regular shoes, which is why I suggested normal sneakers, like running sneakers which easily add a little in a reasonable way without any deception.

Hey, thanks all for your tips and advice...Someone above mentioned it another 2 months yet before our trip and may grow .1 inch to 40!! But we just hope for the best, but prepare for the worst. I agree that Disney should implemented something to have a pre-measurement beforehand upon entering to park, so that the child is guareeteed to go on the rides in the park if there a question of measurement very close like that and not leave to CM decision....It sure make the rest of guest party relieved of this!:rolleyes1

Yes, but, some parents will then find the need to buy the inserts and put them in right before the measurement. And then take them out after the measurement. Child is measured, hits height requirements all day but is two inches short all day.

My entire family is height challenged. My seven year old grandson is still in a booster seat in a car. Why should riding a roller coaster be any different?
