I have a 3 1/2 year old and she is 40" exactly with tennis shoes on. Are the height measurments they use accurate? Will she be able to get on splash mountain and other 40" rides?

One thing I found is that the measuring sticks or whatever they are called vary from one to the next. Have the CM measure her at the beginning of the line and if they let her through there that there won't be any problem. We went through this with my two in July. My youngest is 42 1/2 inches in his running shoes and many times he got measured. My oldest is 46 inches and when we went on Indiana Jones they measures him at the top and when we got to the bottom they weren't going to let him ride by my husband said they measured him at the top and let him through (and that is a hoof to get turned around on) so they let him on. So get them measured at the top and then if they aren't tall enough you haven't gone the whole wait and line to find out that your not allowed.

The one ride I've read the most negative stories about while surfing the Dis is that Jumping Jellyfish ride in DCA. That their measuring stick is just wrong...but they go by it and only it.

Our guy seems to be gaining weight and height by leaps and bounds recently, but even if he hits 40" in shoes, the only thing we're going to say is "let's see if you can ride this"...not "you can ride this", b/c he can get the "let's see", but hates it when we say he CAN do something and then he can't. Sigh, being 3 is hard. :upsidedow

My DS was also exactly 40 inches in June, and he was BARELY too short for all of the 40 inch rides. After he got turned down for his first ride - we stole DD's thick socks, and doubled up. We also practiced that he needed to stretch and hit his head on the bar. After we doubled the socks - he was ok for every ride. Mind you it was not easy - he was measured, for example, three times each to ride BTMRR three times in a row. It was very ridiculous and frustrating, but we were ok. But...since your 40 inch child is a girl - I would also recommend finding some tall sandals, preferrable ones with straps - and use those if the double socks does not work. Again - plan on it being a battle the whole trip, and have extra socks/thick sandals, and you should be ok :thumbsup2

Thank you so much for the info. She is really looking forward to this trip so it sure would be nice if she was able to get on those rides. I will cross my fingers and hope for the best. Thanks for the tips!

I'm with ya ~ my DD is 39 inches barefoot, I'm hopin' she can do the 40" rides ~ of she wants to that is.

When I was getting in the BTMR line a family in front of us got stopped to measure their little gilr. She had on mary jane's with a chunky heel and just made the requirement and they let her in.

I think you should have her wear tennis shoes in the park, but bring a shoe with a nice chunky heel when you want to take her on a big ride!

It was soooo much easier when they used to measure the kids on Main St and give them a wristband! There weren't any questions then
