Height Requirement Checking

I'm curious about how Universal/IOA measure kids for height requirements.

Does each ride have a typical standing board to measure your child against? Or do they have a central park measuring station where they issue your child a bracelet indicating their height? DD9 really wants to go on Hulk but she is just straddling the height minimum. I'm trying to prepare her to the fact that she may not be allowed, but it would be easier if they had a measuring station, rather than having to line up at the actual ride and end up having to leave.

FWIW she's going to be one sad little girl if she can't ride - she's definitely a budding thrill seeker. :)

The attendant at the entrance to the ride will measure her---before she gets in line. Also, inside the ride, if another TM thinks that the child is not tall enough they will measure again.

Each ride has their own measuring poles. You stand under the stick and if your head touches you are ok, hair does not count.:thumbsup2

So teach your child to stand tall and try to hit the top of the measuring stand, not fit underneath it.

Ha ha! Thanks for the advice! :thumbsup2

I have to tell you all that she has been doing stretching exercises in hopes that she will stretch herself out. She really is on the cusp - I would say about 1/4 inch, give or take. She kept hearing my experiences on the Hulk and now she can't stop watching Youtube videos of the ride.

I have seen the attendants measure kids before but never make them take off their shoes. So that might be the little extra she needs!

Yeah, make sure she's got shoes with a decent sized sole - it made the difference for my son, alongside his new-found "Stand like a soldier" moves :)

I can't guarantee that these will be accurate, but *outside* each park they have a big height "sign" thing, with marks for each of the big rides inside the park. It can at least give you an idea of how close she is.

No matter what, I'd definitely try to go on that FIRST, before smooshing her spine down over the course of the day and other big rides.

The image of this made me laugh

Thanks everyone for your help, and for the pic, Damo. It definitely gives me an idea about what to expect. Only 5 more days until we see Harry, Spidey, and hopefully the Hulk ! :woohoo:
