When we went to DL two years ago, they were just testing a device that measured height very accurately, and then putting a wristband on the child who had been measured that basically told what rides they could go on. I believe this was at DCA. Does anyone know if this is still there? Did they start using it at DL? The CM seemed to feel that it was going to become a standard thing.

We were there in March and did not see anything like that. DD had to be measured several times - but at each individual ride.

They canned it awhile back as it never was fully implemented and people soon found a way to abuse it-

I wish they would fully implement it again- the parks desperatly need a standard-

We were there when they were testing it too and we LOVED the system (DS did not want to take off his Orange band even on the trip home...had to show it off).

It was gone this last summer and no where to be found at Xmas...I'm sad as it was a wonderful thing...maybe we should all email disney!

I thought that it might be too expensive for wide use. The one thing I liked about it was the consistancy--you get measured once, and you get a wristband. Having the individual CM's eyeball you at every ride can be frustrating for a child who is right at the borderline height for a ride--sometimes they'll let a "borderline" child go through, and sometimes they won't. My poor daughter rode Jumpin' Jellyfish all day long, only to be told by a new CM right before closing that she was too short. I would rather have not had her riding all day than to have her told that suddenly she couldn't go on. It seemed very abitrary! And she was heartbroken!

I think it was more the non-consitancy thing that killed it more than the $$$- Because there wasnt much more investment in it than they already had-

From what I can understand is that the machine wasnt 100% accurate and not all the signs were 100% accurate- so if Child A was given a 40' band but the sign in front of ride B was really 40.1 then Child A (who infact may have only been 39.10) would come up short under sign B- Then what? Tech the child shouldnt ride as they do not meet the indicators on that ride- Lots of complaints over it-

They need to first universalize the system at DL/DCA so that all signs are exactly the same (they all vary by millimeters- which can make or break a kids chances sometimes) and then do a huge re-train then implement the system with a 100% accurate scanner so that a kid who is 40" can meet all the 40" rides all day

Height checks are as frustrating for parents as they are for CMs- and sadly some CMs dont pay as much attention to heights as they should so it makes the ones who are sticklers for it the "mean" ones-

We had many such problems with it. Also the rule was the CMs working the ride had ultimate say so even if the child had a wrist band on and they measured at the ride the child could not ride. I can't tell you the crying my child did when turned away from some of her favorite rides because she was given a wrist band.

Sometimes she'd be measure taller and other times she'd measure smaller. Many times she wouldn't qualify for a band for rides she'd been on many times and always easily passed the height limit. While it was a nice try, it had too many holes.

Legolands system is for a ride operator to measure and then give the child a wristband. Paramount's Kings dominon had a sign with different colors that you stood against and it told them what color band to give you. These both worked much better than DLs system ever did.

All I really want is some consistancy, you know? It's so much easier to tell a child "no" right from the beginning than it is to wait until they've been on a ride and tell them that all of a sudden the rules have changed. :(

Maybe if I wish hard enough it will happen... :p

Maybe if we all wish togeather- Trust me the CMs wish there was too- I had such high hopes for the check system but immediatly saw there was problems so I knew it wouldnt last-

Maybe one day....
