Heelys / Roller Shoes - Yes or No??

I do not think it is right to return something that you can not learn to use. Some people can't, and will never learn to, drive well but they do not return the car... If they were broke that would be another matter.

it seems like returning them is taking advantage of the stores.

Outdoors, I don't think they are any different or more dangerous then skateboards, scooters and bikes. Instead of urging a ban on Heelys, you're anger and frustration should be directed at the parents who let their kids wear them in inappropriate places, and also the places that allow them to be worn at their establishments. Many places have not skateboards signs, the same should be the same for Heelys.

I agree, buty in this case they are not an accessory that can be worn outside and then left outisde or left in the car. As such, people liek yourself say you don't let your child use them indoors, but there is always the chance they do. In almost all the cases I have seen, the parent isn't watching the child when they decide on their own to use them indoors or down the hills of the Epcot World Showcase.

That leaves only one solution IMO. To nto allow them at all in public places.

And yes, I saw two people severely hurt at Epcot because a kid decided to come down a hill at full speed. Both him and the woman he ran into were hurt and they had to search, and search, for the parents :rolleyes1 to help their child while the woman was helped to her feet at escorted back stage so she could go to the hospital. I hope she is able to get those parents to pay up down the line.

Heelies at home/uncrowded park= fine

heelies in stores/themeparks/resteraunts/ladies bathroom (I'm not kidding) = ummm...stupid

My question for ppl who let there kids wheel through very crowded places. Would you let your child skateboard/rollerblade as well through the malls foodcourt? Really, just an honest question.

As the only poster who lets their kids do this, I'm more than happy to represent the heathen point of view here. No, I wouldn't let them in-line or skateboard in the places we've been discussing because these are much different than heelys. You don't go as fast and you have much more control on heelys (they have only one wheel and simply pointing your toe down will stop you very quickly).

I also don't think I let them heely in "very crowded" places, but that could be open to interpretation.

It's stops them from rolling, but not from falling into others which is what I see happen very often.

And to those akaing that angle, yes that can happen with kids running, but I don't see why that means we should allow something (Heelys) just because it happens without them as well.
