Oh thank the mouse. I'm so tried of those kids speeding out of control though the park.

Oh thank the mouse indeed. But, to see it actually enforced. When we were there in February for 10 days, I may have seen it enforced twice but I only know of once for sure. I hate the things, specifically because I've been the unfortunate (and I'm sure unintentioned) target of kids using them several times, but not just at Disney. Most of the times parents seem oblivious to their children running into people. The last time I was in the grocery store, mom was busy shopping while son was "skating" all over the place. That kid actually ran into me twice!!

They have been banned for awhile and I have seen a number of CMs enforce that policy but sadly, after the child is reprimanded and out of sight of the CM, I have seen the same child go back to using the Heelys - in full view of the parent(s).

It sounds like, however, they will be more strict about it.

We were just there yesterday and we saw plenty of Heelys all day long!

Hopefully they will start to actually enforce the ban!

They are a plague on society...

I was ran into twice, at Disney in January, by kids on them, one time there was a reprimand from a CM. I saw both kids continue to use them throughout the park. I have three kids, and I would not think of letting them wheel around a park like that.

I don't care how careful someone thinks their children are on theirs, I do not want me or anyone in my family to be the one ran over when they lose control. I don't to see anyone run over period. And most kids I have seen are reckless, sorry to all those responsible heelie users, I haven't seen you. :rotfl2:

Thank goodness! I am really sick and tired of having kids skating all over the place in them. :headache:

These irresponsible parents who allow their children to go at top speeds running into people consistently is certainly irritable.

But, let's just sit back and watch what the CM's do about this recent issue. popcorn:: I'm almost sure they won't enforce it very much.

don't let the allearsnet response fool you. the most important sentence in that response is that it is NOT a new ban.

security is supposed to enforce it when kids enter the park. not always done. it then becomes individual CMs' responsibility to enforce it when they see it. and let's face it, even if a CM catches it, the kid's not gonna say 'okay, you're right, i won't do it again' and not do it again.

many CMs won't enforce it either because in a lot of cases, there will be confrontation and many CMs try to avoid confronting guests (which is why guests get away with a lot besides heelys). they either don't want to infringe upon a guest's 'happy vacation' or just don't want to be yelled at by some angry parent.

CM's won't enforce it. Why would they? They could care less about all the people smoking in undesignated areas of the park.

May seem harsh, but here's what should happen:

There should be signs posted outside the entrance that heely's are not allowed, and anyone wearing them, will be kicked out of the park. No need for warnings. Your warning is right outside before you get in.

I HATE those things.

Okay Rain on my party. :(

I was hoping to clear those things out of the park. But it doesn't sound like it's happening.

I think that there should be signage at the park entrances, at every turnstyle. Also some around the parks themselves. Then, if someone is caught in them, the shoes get taken away, put at the main entrance and the parent has to buy new footgear for the child. If there was info, at the entrance stating what the repercussions would be, I bet more parents would leave the 'heelies' home!!

I agree with the warnings at every enterance of the park. This is not a crime, but it is very obnoxious to the folks trying to have a nice vacation.

:worship: Thank you to the CMs who enforce the rule!

It baffles me that a parent would think it's safe for both their child and the surrounding people that Heeleys are safe to wear at a theme park. Plus, when the kid isn't "wheeling," he has to walk on his toes and that's a bad gait to use when you're spending a lot of the day on your feet. :confused3

I agree on having the shoes taken away.

I hate Heelys! I didn't even know what they were called until recently. I think that the information should be mentioned on paperwork received by guests also. I am sure Disney wouldn't allow skateboards and regular skates - this is no different.

Oh I hope they do start to enforce it, but I am afraid it will be like the smokers who don't stick to designated areas. I think the CM's would like to enforce some of these rules, but I can understand if they start to get discouraged by people who ignore them. :sad2:

I'm with everyone here! When we were there in Feb. We were having breakfast and there was a trash can on the other side of us. This kid must have thrown away every piece of trash one at a time so he could "skate" back and fourth. Well every time he went by he grabbed my chair. I felt like sticking out my foot and tripping him after a while.

I may be a mean parent, but I have not and will never buy these for my DD. I honestly don't see the point of them.

That is when the parents should have put a stop to it.

We are not real fond of the Heeley's either. My husband didn't even know they were called anything except "stupid skating shoes". I have a fairly serious medical condition that you can't see. Basically, I can't be pushed around or jostled too much. And if I fall down, well, it won't be pretty. I understand that no one can see this. So my husband and I take our time and have become very adapt at dodging people in the crowds.

We were there three weekends ago. I can't tell you how many times we were concentrating on going forward without an incident and some kid would come flying in from the side with those things out. I know I'm one in a million of the Disney World visitors in a year but all it would take is for one of those kids to crash into me. I can handle people walking into me. I can't handle (well, I haven't experienced that yet per the doctor's orders) someone crashing into me and putting me on the ground when I didn't expect it.

The ban is not enforced. They can't take the shoes away at the gates or in the parks. What would the kid do? Walk back to the resort room in stocking feet? We complain when our shoes are taken at the airport, let alone permanantly at a theme park.

Next time I go, I'm making a sign to wear around me like a sandwich board. "If you have Heeleys, stay the hell away from me".
