Quite a long time ago there was a thread about what people cooked or heated in the microwave at WDW. However, there are so many threads come up when I search "microwave" that I apologise for not having sufficient time to go through them all.

So, either - can someone give a link to the thread or can we start another please?

So, first question: What brand of microwavable meals that are available in a supermarket would you recomment, if any, and which supermarket would that be?

publix or walmart - you need to go see them for yourself. you need to be carefully - they can be high in salt, sugar or fat - generally not all 3 - and it definitely depends upon the brand. these are generally the one not frozen.

now use to do this - about 2 weeks before - when cooking, doubled the amount. freeze the other half and took it with me to OKW.

now if you are flying - this might be a problem.

I like Bird's Eye Voila dinners -- they serve two and are in the frozen food section. There are several varieties. I find them perfect for DVC studios.

I am the queen of convenience foods.

One thing (not frozen) that you can do easily in a studio is nachos!! I make them at home in the microwave all the time. It was something I used to make at work for lunch all the time from stuff I got off the salad bar!! Just get a big bag of Tostitos or similar chips (and some larger paper plates while you're at the store) and a bag of shredded cheese then hit the salad bar! I sometimes add ham (just deli lunchmeat) and cut it up into bite size pieces. If you go by a grocery store that has a salad bar it's helpful to find stuff already chopped up. (I am not familiar with what's avail. in FL in the stores tho, sorry.) But here at home, at my grocery store, I can get chopped tomatoes and / or salsa, chopped onion, sliced olives, jalapenos, shredded cheese, sour cream and of course lettuce. I call 'em Super Nachos!! LOL....Just add your lettuce & sour cream last after you've heated it!!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 Who can spell EASY!!??

I've also been known to make BLT's. You'll have a toaster so you can toast the bread and you can buy that pre-cooked bacon that you zap in the microwave for 50 seconds (OR use bacon bits). Tomato...lettuce...maybe some sliced cheese...add some turkey lunchmeat & make a CLUB sandwich.:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Tuna salad on toast is another easy peasy one. I use the Starkist flavored tuna in the pouches. Add some mayo - VOILA you got tuna salad!! (I like mine on toast!) (You can also add a slice of cheese & pop it in the microwave for a few secs for a tuna melt.)

Or you can make Caesar Salad wrap sandwiches....get a bag of that Caesar Salad with the dressing in it...and a pkg. of that Perdue Short Cuts carved chicken, wraps & some shredded parmesan cheese!!:thumbsup2

Just a few ideas for life in a studio.....if you've got a toaster and a microwave you can make almost anything!!:goodvibes

OP - BTW, for frozen meals here in the U.S. Stouffers brand is always a pretty good bet. But the freezer section in the studio freezers are SMALL.

These sound great!! I never thought about the ceasar salad wrap sandwiches! that sounds nice and fresh and easy!! BLTs are great as well!!...I'll be sure to make (and take pictures) of us eating our BLT's...at...well...BLT!!! :rotfl:

Marie Callender's frozen dinners are pretty good. I recently had their meat lasagna cooked in a hotel room microwave. Many of their dinners are enough food for two.

If you need something and can't get to the store the shop at the resort has a selection of frozen foods, but you will pay a little more.

We purchased some pre-made entrees at WalMart in the refrigerated meats section. There was a pot roast in that section by Bob Evans and a tub of mashed potatoes, then add some freshor frozen veggies and you have a pretty nice meal.

Some tasty suggestions there. Thanks everyone. Trying to keep the costs down is going to be easier.

Publix is far better... just keep in mind, utensils and space is very limited in the Studio.

How about a precooked Rotisserie chicken?? Add some mashed potato's and a bag of veggies - the kind that steam in the bag?? Jar of gravy?? Bring a candle - nice romantic meal for two. You could get 2 meals out of the chicken - or have chicken sandwiches/wraps the next day for lunch.

Throw some extra heavy duty paper plates in your bag. Maybe some silverware and a sharp knife if you plan on eating a lot of meals in the room.

My favorite studio breakfast is my egg sandwich.

I take one of those small Ziploc round containers, spray it with "I Can't Believe It's Not Butter" spray, crack an egg into it, scramble and nuke it for 1 minute. Then, I pop it on a toasted English Muffin with a slice of cheese! I've also added the brown and serve sausage links to the scramble. Just nuke a link for about 45 seconds, cut it up and add it to the egg. Then nuke the egg/sausage for 1 minute. It pops out of the dish in a little round shape that fits on the muffin perfectly.

Now that I am on a weight-loss mission, I make the same thing at home, but I've modified it. It's now 2 egg whites scrambled with a 1/4 cup of shredded spinach. That goes on a Thomas' 100 Calorie muffin with a slice of Kraft free cheese. Super tasty and only about 170 calories! (I've lost 12 pounds in 6 weeks....only 8 more pounds to go!)

baked potatos in the microwave topped with just about anything - yum!

I also like the rotisserie chicken idea.

I didn't like the seasoned frozen salmon filets I got at Target AT ALL but forgot the brand.
