Heat Pump for above ground pool

Hello everyone,
I need some advice and thought I should come here for help.

We have an above ground pool 15x30 10,000 gallons of water. I am trying to decide on a heater to heat the water.

In my area, bucks county, PA (north of Philadelphia), most people use propane heaters. I would really like to try a heat pump but I don't know much about them.

I have looked them up on the internet but I was hoping to find somewho who has actually heated their pool with a heat pump. If you have one can you please tell me where you live and what your temperature is like so I can get an idea of if it might work for me. I am trying to figure out how much it might cost to run a heat pump. How long it takes to heat the water etc.

I have a brochure on an AquaComfort heat pump, does anyone know anything about this type of pump?

Not too sure what a heat pump is.

We have a natural gas heater. You set the temp you want the water at & it heats it to that temperature. Similiar to a hot water tank.

We love having a heater (we're in NY). It lets you start the swimming season early & prolongs it to the end of September/beginning of October.

When I read the website it sounds great but advertising makes everything sound great.

We like our water warm and just don't get enough sun. Our neighbor's trees blocks out much of the sun.

Ours doesn't look like the one in the pictures. It looks like the one your looking at is totally different.

I can say that we love having the heater & have no regrets that we made the purchase. We swim more & my DD's enjoy the pool much more with the heater.

We live in Virginia and use an outdoor woodstove to heat our house, water and swimming pool. Works GREAT!! Our swimming pool is a 10,000 gallon "hot tub" in the summer.

My husband made a solar heater......the water circulates thru the tubes and heats up and then goes back into the pool......one day our water temp went up to 92.....my husband likes warm water......we are Mainers so we take heat when we get it.....

I just got mine installed. They said that it takes about 4-5 days to heat the pool the first time. I will let you know how I like it in a few days.

we also are thinking of heating our pool. (or at least I am....I HATE the cold water)

i built a homemade solar heater for our above ground pool last year,,t ook three good sunny late march days to get the water temp up over 90 degrees... i used a cheepo sump pump and water hoses, after the water was warm, we use the hoses to water flowers, and the pump goes in storage till this year.

We have a heat pump to heat our pool. We have been very happy and the operating costs are much lower than propane since it is much more efficient. The initial cost of the heat pump is higher, but I think it paid for itself in 2 years. Another factor in the decision is the fact that I am a "do-it-myself" guy. I was able to buy the electrical wire needed to power the unit and hook everything up myself. Not real tricky, but I wouldn't recommend the average Joe try it. The tubing for natural gas would have had to be run by a contractor and was pricey.

BTW: We live in Michigan, and my wife keeps the pool warm (88 degrees).

hmmmm....I already have a sump pump....I'll have to talk to my hubby and see what we can do...
