Heat, Headaches but So Much Fun! My June Birthday TR (Trip Wrap-Up 10/12)

I am so sorry you felt so bad on your last day. I find that on storm days sometimes the barometric pressure makes me so sick - headachy and dizzy.

Madison looks adorable in her first day of school pictures. :goodvibes

I'm so sorry your last full day in the parks was so crummy. Being sick is the WORST! But Madison was such a sweetie--what a compassionate little girl :goodvibes And her school pictures are precious!! What a cutie!! :cutie:

It sure did stink being sick that last full day, but I was still at Disney! I must admit, Maddie did look pretty cute this morning!:cutie:

Great 1st day of school pics! I'm so impressed that you've posted them already!
I took a bunch, but had to run off to work for most of the day. I'm going to try to get home in time for the bus today too. It was a good start, even though Paige squirted toothpaste all over the back of Sarah's shirt. Yup, she did! So we had a quick change in wardrobe. :) I stayed up and made Scotcheroos for their 1st day treat. (since I had to work today!).
They're pretty excited - as am I! They've been spending WAY too much time together and are getting on each other's nerves. It's also their first night of gymnastics for the fall session! Busy day.
Sorry to hijack - back to business!!

Thanks Sheree! I didn't have anything to do today, so as soon as I got back from dropping her off at school, I uploaded my pics. It does sound like you had a busy day. Wow! And feel free to hijack my TR whenever you'd like! :goodvibes

Madison looks so grown up for her first day of school. I hope she had a great day.

Do you start teaching dance again soon?

Danielle starts back to dance class on Wednesday.

She did look grown up today. It's so hard to believe she'll be 7 years old next month. I start teaching again on Saturday (classes at my studio start on Thursday). I still can't believe I agreed to teach at 9am on Saturday mornings. At least it's only an hour! Plus, I teach 2 classes on Wendesday evenings, but that won't start for another week. Madison starts Irish dance again on Monday and then a fall session of swimming lessons on Tuesday. It's going to be a busy fall!

I think the problem for me was the intense humidity. Last month, we had a stretch of 80+ days and I was sick again like I was in Orlando. I guess me and humidity really don't do so well!

Oh! I missed the school pics but they are lovely!! She looks very grown up in the last one! :) Love the silver shoes!!

Good luck with teaching!

Hi Meghan!!

I've missed quite a bit here!! I'm SO sorry that your last day didn't end like you wanted it too, what a shame!!:guilty: And poor Madison being so upset like that, too, what a sweetheart she is!!!

She looks SO grown up in her little dress on the 1st day of school! I hope it's been a good week for her so far and she's enjoying 2nd grade!!!

Did I just see one of your posts saying something about a baby year? Yay!!!:goodvibes

Oh poor Meghan! -- I had a "last day" at Universal like that -- ds was finally brave enough to do all the coasters (dh does not do coasters), and I was too sick to ride with him. I felt very bad, but had been on vacation for 17 days, and we were all just wiped.

Madison looks so beautiful -- what a lovely young lady! I can hear how proud you are in your post!

She is such a little lady. I bought myself a pair of silver ballet flats as well. They were too cute to pass up!

I was pretty upset about missing Wishes that night. I really wanted to be able to see Wishes from Main Street on our last evening. Oh well! Next time for sure.

Madison is loving 2nd grade. It's only 2 days in, but she's always loved school. And yes, we do plan on having another child. I've gone back and forth a million times, but I'd love for Madison to have a sibling.

That really stinks that your DS couldn't do the coasters. When I was younger, my parents really didn't like coasters, but they could do maybe one a piece. I was so excited when my younger sister started liking them. I had a riding buddy who wasn't going to feel sick the rest of the day! I'd love a 10 or 14 day vacation someday.

My DH and I are very proud of Madison. She's an all-around great kid. :thumbsup2

Day Four
June 27th
1:45pm

We decided to see if we could check-in a bit early at LeCellier. Once we got to the check-in podium, there were a few families in front of us. All of them were trying to walk up and get a table, but that wasn't happening. The CM was very nice to everyone, but they weren't so nice to her. I'm sure she was happy to see us with an actual ADR! We were able to check-in early and we had a seat inside. After waiting only a few minutes, we were taken to our table. I must say, LeCellier is quite lovely inside!

At this time, I was really not feeling so well. My headache was still there and it was so darn hot outside. Combine that with a very full belly and it's not a good situation. I was super miserable. After completing our Japan assignment, Madison wanted to do another one, so she chose China. Oh boy. Back we went to China in the beating hot sun.

We arrived back at Pop a little before 8pm. I took Madison back to the room to get her ready to swim and Tony got us some food. While I was getting her ready, she burst out crying. When I asked her what was wrong, she told me she was sad that I didn't feel good and that we couldn't go see my favorite fireworks. You see, the plan for the evening was to go to Epcot, eat at LeCellier, do some stuff at Epcot and then go over to MK to see Wishes again at 10pm. When she told me this, I started crying. She was sad because she knews Wishes was my favorite and that I had really wanted to see it again. She is such a compassionate little girl.

It's always frustrating (ok...maybe a little amusing as well:rolleyes1) when people start arguing with the CMs at restaurants. I'm amazed how people don't believe them when they say "there are no tables."

Maddie is so sweet! It's great that she felt bad because you didn't get to do your favorite thing.

Your last day at Epcot was very similar to my last day in July. It was miserably hot, and I was going around with my sister to meet characters. (I felt bad, because she never did get to meet Aladdin - her favorite prince!) I think I got a little sun sick, because I just went back to the hotel and sat in the dark for several hours. Epcot is definitely not a good park to be at during the afternoon under the blazing sun.

I have a Paige too, but she is now 17 and a Senior in highscholo. I'm gonna do a hijack and post some pics of her!

Your daughter's eyes are just stunning!!! Feel free to hijack whenever (that goes for all of you!). I love seeing pics!

I do laugh at people (in my head of course) when they don't understand what "no tables" means. Don't they DIS?? :rotfl: Why didn't they make their ADR's at their 90 day mark??

Epcot is no fun to get sick at. It's one of my favs, but being WAAAAYYYYY into WS with a fever is not so great.

Beautiful pictures!!

I love the cow picture. LOL

Paige is beautiful!!! Love all the pics!!:goodvibes

The interesting thing is even before I DISed I knew that you probably couldn't just walk up and get a table anywhere you wanted. I at least knew that you needed to call the night before or that morning to get a ressie.

Now I know that if I want to eat at some places I need to get ADRs very far in advance. (I'm getting nervous about making my ADRs tomorrow) We were actually very lucky on our trip. We changed our Biergarten ADR time the night before, and we were able to walk up to Sci Fi Dine In and not only add 2 people to our ADR (on a ressie that already had 7) but we were all seated in cars together. Of course our ADR was one of the first of the day (11:05), so they were still taking walkups, but I was ready to have them turn us away.

I do remember my mom making a few ressies when I was younger (we ALWAYS ate at Alfredo's!), so I knew you had to make reservations. I hope you get all your ADR's that you want!

LOVE the first day of school pics (but you knew that from FB)!! :) That dress is so cute!! One of Ally's friends in her class was weraing that dress last Thursday--sooo cute!! Madison is beautiful!!

Day Five
June 28th
6am

My alarm went off around 6am, but I went back to sleep for a bit. Around 6:20am, I decided to get out of bed. Tony was starting to wake up and he asked how I was feeling. He also told me we could do whatever I was up to doing that day. Even though I was still feeling super congested, it was our last morning at Disney, and we were going to Epcot for EMH. While I got myself ready for the day, Tony went and got us a bagel and a muffin. After we were all showered, dressed and fed, we started to pack.:sad1: Since we weren't flying that day, we were just throwing things into our suitcases. We said a last goodbye to our lovely room at Pop and brought our luggage down to be held for us.

We got down to the bus stop around 8am (right as EMH was beginning at the park). There was an Epcot bus, but as we were walking towards it, it started to pull away. We started running and the bus driver must have seen us and he pulled over. Well, we should have waited for a different bus because before we even left Pop property, the bus broke down!!! :scared1: This was not the best way to start our last day at Disney. Another bus arrived about 5-10 minutes later and it's a good thing it did. Our bus was starting to get super hot.

We arrived at Epcot around 8:30am (not bad for a late start and bus problems) and we headed straight for The Land. I grabbed FP's for Soarin' and we got in line (30 min). Before we even got on the ride, I was starting to get really hungry. I had only had a few bites of bagel back at the hotel. It's hard for me to eat when I'm all congested. So, after we got off Soarin', we went over to Sunshine Seasons and I got a strawberry shortcake. Yup. I had one for breakfast! I was feeling a bit better with some food in my stomach. We then headed over to TT.

100_0950.jpg

We couldn't get FP's because the return time was too late for us. Our only option was standby and it was 50 minutes. I'm sad to say that Maddie and I complained our way through that line. I was just so tired and Madison is not used to waiting in long lines (love our FP's). The wait ended up being over an hour and by the time we got to the holding room, I was feeling shaky and dizzy. I ended up not even going on the ride. :sad2: Tony and Madison rode together and I waited by the pictures at the exit.

Image159.jpg

Tony and Madison had their own car! The CM's working there that morning didn't really have their act together. The CM working in the control room kept "yelling" at the other CM's. They weren't filling up all the little spots on the ground and that is why that line didn't move very well I guess.

After TT, we browsed around the shop at the end. Madison bought WDW vehicles (they are little replicas of the thrill ride cars!) and I bought the WDW window cling family (so cute) and a Mickey head pen. We then headed over to Mousegears to use up the rest of our gift cards. Madison bought some WDW books (it is a set of 5 books that include one about each park and the 5th is about all other things Disney), I got a frame and a magnet and we bought gifts for Tony's family.

It was now our return time for Soarin', so we headed back to the land. I knew this would be our last ride of this trip and I was getting pretty sad. The line moved quickly and before I knew it, we were waiting to be seated in the first row. This made me a bit happier because it's my favorite place to sit. Once we got to our seats, I realized I was in the EXACT center seat (middle section, middle seat). I pointed it out to Tony and he said it was the perfect way to end our trip. I nearly burst out into tears during that last ride on Soarin'. I couldn't have been a more perfect ending to my birthday trip. (I just got misty eyed thinking about it)

After Soarin' we started walking to the exit and the bus stop. We arrived back at Pop around 12:30pm. We were all pretty hungry and had a few CS credits left to use up. Tony got us a pizza to share and Madison some chicken nuggets (again) and I called the rental car company. They would pick us up at 1:30pm out front. Well.....after calling them back TWICE, we finally got picked up around 2pm.

100_0951.jpg

Tony and Madison waiting for our rental car company

I had to hold back the tears as we left Disney property for the 1st time in 5 days. The WDW sign brings so much joy and happiness on that first day, but so much sadness when it's time to leave. The driver brought us to our Hertz location and it didn't take long for us to get our car. We had a bright red Mazda 3 and it was great. All of our luggage fit perfectly in the trunk. We made quick pit stop at a Super Target so I could pick up some tissues, Gatorade and Ginger Ale (my stomach was a bit unsettled). We got on the road around 3pm and it didn't take long for Madison to fall asleep.

Sorry this post wasn't that exciting. I do have more to this trip, but it's not Disney related. If you want me to post it I will. I must say, we had quite the adventure trying to fly home!!!

I'm so sorry you were sick on your last day. What a bummer! I would love to hear about the rest of your trip. :goodvibes

I have a question about the book set Madison got - are the books like picture books? Is it meant for kids? I think DS would love something like that. :goodvibes

I thought it was plenty exciting!
It's great that you got that perfect seat on Soarin'! I always get up at the top or over to the side which takes away some of the Illusion.

I think the TT photo is the only one I've seen where Madison doesn't have a huge grin on her face.
