Heat, Headaches but So Much Fun! My June Birthday TR (Trip Wrap-Up 10/12)

Well everyone, it looks like I didn't have enough time for an update yesterday. Sorry! I just had so much going on yesterday. Now, I have to go get ready to go to Syracuse for my cousin's grad party. I'm hoping they have nice weather today since it's at their house. I'll be back later. Have a wonderful Sunday everyone!:goodvibes

I must be really out of the loop. I grew up in the 80's (graduated in 87) and I have never seen shutter shades now or then. LOL! I think they would bother me. LOL! Can you see very well?

Hey Meghan! Love all the pics of Tren-D! I was wondering where all the girly stuff was in the WOD. They shipped it all over there! :rotfl:

Did you make it to the Taste of Buffalo? My DH played at 3:00 with his band but I didn't end up going. I was bummed to miss it. The weather just looked so iffy and I didn't want to bring DS all the way down there in a downpour!

I hope Madison's healing! How awful to have to go through bites like that!

Sorry I missed your updates all weekend! How's Madison doing now? Isn't today the day that she goes back to the doctor? Let us know how she's doing, she'll be in my thoughts and prayers.

I can't wait to hear about the parks!! Woooo!! LOL! I also admire your self-control in only buying one thing at Tren-D!

Hey! How is Madison doing? I said a prayer for her as soon as I read it... :flower3: The pics look soooo great! Tren-D looks SO cute :thumbsup2 And great job on your window! Can't wait to read more!

Hi Meghan - I'm really enjoying your trip report :thumbsup2

I've never stayed at POP before, but it looks like a great place from looking at your pics.

I will be going down in August (woot) staying at SSR and I plan on checking out Tren-D. Looks like a great store to see.

I look forward to reading more :surfweb: Keep up the good work.

We did make it to the Taste. It wasn't raining while we were there, but it started raining on the drive home. Madison is doing great!

She did go back to the doctor today and she's great! The bits on her face are all gone and the one on her elbow is nearly gone!

We loved our room at Pop. It was in a great location and I think I would always pay for a preferred room there. Tren-D used to be Summer Sands and is attached to Team Mickey. My birthday was great and everyone will get to hear about the rest of my day real soon!

Day One
June 24th
4pm

We made our way to the bus stop around 4pm. Just as we were leaving Classic Hall, a DHS bus was pulling up. Perfect! That ride to DHS is not long at all and I loved that. Before we could go into the park, we had to stop at Will Call so I could get my Birthday Fun Card. I had printed out the birthday info from the Disney website and handed it to the lovely CM at the window. She went through all the options, but I knew what I wanted already. She told me I had made a great choice. Birthday Fun Card in hand, we made our way to the turnstiles and we were on our way!

We wanted to get FP's for ToT, but they were gone. So, I decided to hop into the single rider line for RNRC. Normally I would have let Tony go first since it's his favorite ride, but it was my birthday!

After watching the FP peeps fly by me and my line wasn't moving AT ALL (for about 20 minutes), I got out of line. I didn't want to hold up my family and I knew that we would be back to DHS later in the week. After meeting back up with my fam, we went over to the Magic of Disney Animation. I had heard on the DIS that it was filled with characters on non-Fantasmic nights. Boy were they right! Here's a few pics:

Mr. and Mrs. Incredible

Max, from the Goofy movie (he loved Maddie)

The line for Sorcerer Mickey was really long, so we skipped that one. There were a few villains there too (Prince John from Robin Hood and the bad guy from Pocahontas). Even though it was long, we just HAD to get in the line to see the UP characters! I don't know exactly how long we waited, but it was pretty warm over in that line, and a little stinky.

I ordered my photopass cd, but I haven't gotten it yet. I'll have to devote a whole update to my pics once I get it. I will say that I have a slightly embarassing/adorable pic of myself and Russell. He was so adorable! Those characters were SO worth the wait! They took a good amount of time with Madison and really loved her Mickey headband. They were all playing with it. After our meet and greet with them, we noticed that Pocahontas was there. We went to get in line, but the CM who was with her told us she was about to go get a break and would be back in 30 minutes. Bummer. Gepetto (spelled so wrong) was there at that time too, but we skipped him. We also spotted Mary Poppins and some penguins on our way out. I highly recommend stopping in there!!!

After all of that wonderful character interaction, it was time for a ride. We went over to the Great Movie Ride and had a very short wait (shorter than Jan!). We were so excited because we got the western scene/Cowgirl! In Jan, we got the gangster. I'm so happy that Madison was able to see both. You should have seen her face when the bank started on fire!!! Priceless!
After our tour through the movies, it was 6:30pm and we decided to see if we could check-in early to Sci-Fi. Nope. I was told we had to check-in 10-15 mintues before our ADR. I've never been told that before, but it was no big deal. We walked over and got FP's for Star Tours and walked around the Streets of America.

I FINALLY got my pic taken at the umbrella!!! "Singin' in the Rain" is one of my all-time favorite movies. Gene Kelly is amazing!

After we had done our exploring, we went back to Sci-Fi and were able to check-in. We had to wait a bit, but it was a lovely night so we sat outside. It was quite interesting watching all these people walking in expecting to get a table. I overheard the CM at the check-in podium telling guests there was at least a 2 hour wait and even then, they might not be seating. People would walk away all huffy and puffy. I just kept thinking, they must not DIS!
We got seated in our car around 7:15pm and we were pretty hungry. Our waiter was very nice and helpful. I noticed the angus chuck burger was not on the dinner menu but we assured me I could order it anyways. So, that's what I got, along with an Oreo milkshake! Tony got the ribs with baked beans and fries and Madison ordered the cheese pizza with fries. I did manage to take a few pics:

Tony and Madison; we were seated all the way over to the right of the screen right where they bring the guests to their cars. A bit annoying, but I didn't care!

My burger, which I ended up not really liking. Well, let me re-phrase that. I didn't like the mushrooms and onions on top. I did scrape most of them off, but the taste of them remained. I did manage to eat about half of it though.

100_0723.jpg

Tony really enjoyed his ribs

Madison got a little creeped out by some of the sci-fi movies, but I let her know they were just pretend. They were meant to be funny. They did show a Tom and Jerry clip that she liked and she also enjoyed the intermission clips. Here's our desserts:

100_0724.jpg

I got the peanut butter chocolate cake and it was SOOO good! I was a little bummed I didn't get a birthday candle, but our waiter did give us a souvie cup filled with caramel corn!

Maddie made me take a pic of her sundae

Tony got the no sugar added brownie with ice cream and strawberries

After our lovely dinner, we used our FP's for Star Tours. Probably not the best idea after eating, but we all made it through ok. We decided to take a walk by TSMM, and the wait time was 90 min, but looked much longer. Again, we knew we'd be back, so we weren't bothered by the fact we couldn't ride that night. By this time, it was around 9pm, scheduled park closing time. We had originally planned to stay for some EMH, but we changed our minds. It was beginning to lightly rain and we were pretty tired, so we called it a night. As we made our way out of the park, we stopped for some photopass pics in front of the hat. The bus was very full, so we had to stand. We didn't mind, but we were just plain exhausted. When we got back to Pop, we all got ready for bed and we were all asleep by 10pm. It had been an amazing, but long day. My birthday was over, but we had so many more wonderful days to come.

WOW!! :thumbsup2 Awesome chapter Meghan! :goodvibes Sounds like you had a GREAT birthday! You and Maddie have the most incredible eyes! They are just so beautiful! I hope your sweet girl is feeling better! :flower3:

Sounds like you had an awesome day at HS on your birthday! We also visited the characters at the Animators Studio the day we were there. The photopass guy took a picture of just me with Dug! He was so cute. We actually waited in that line twice because the first time we did it was just Carl and Dug and then we saw Russell so after a little bit we went back into the line.

Can't wait to hear what you got with your Birthday Fun Card! I'm going to be down for my bday in September and I'm already considering the possibilities :cool2:

Glad to hear that Madison's bites are looking better
