Heart Murmurs.

My friend's boyfriend has one. He went to the doctor yesterday and they said it's the worst kind you can have and it's getting worse everyday. They told him that he probably wouldn't live past 20. He's 17 now.
Not for sure this is exactly right, it is just what my friend said he told her.
I feel so bad for them.

What do you think of them?
Have you ever been affected by them?

my old best friend had one. her's isn't severe though.. she isn't affected by it like at all. but she can't join the army, not that she wanted to.. haha

my dad has congestive heart failure and an irregular heart beat, which is kinda like a heart murmur. he's gotten it under control, but things looked really bleak for him for a while. it was really scary. but doctors didn't think he would live, and now he's (almost) the picture of health. i hope the doctors are wrong about your friend, too.

Every now and the she has to go to the doctor so they can keep monitoring it.

my best friend has an anxiety disorder. He gets panic attacks, and sometimes his heart is affected. Its really scary.

Thanks everybody. My friend started to get scared last night, because he called her and told her that he was inviting tons of people over and they were gonna go get drunk and that he didn't care what she said. He started cussing then hung up the phone after telling her what the doctor said. Texted her back later saying he was sorry. But now she is really sad.

Another one of my friends dad has died from heart problems.

My new cat also has a heart murmer so we are a bit worried about him to.

My mom has had one for about 20 years (hers was picked up on around the same time that your friend's bf's was) and it is completely uneffective on her life.

My little sister has a very minor one, and my mom might, too, I don't remember what she said. It doesn't affect my sister as far as I know; she couldn't have her teeth cleaned with flouride at the dentist once because of it, but I'm not sure if it was directly connected.

a heart mumur is just an abnormal sound made by a valve in the heart. it means another heart disease is present. he really should get a second opinion and find out possible types of treatment.

She said he went to the doctor and they told him that he had problems with his heart most specifically is he had a heart murmur. She told me that they gave him some medicene to get rid of the pain and said there was nothing they could do about it. [Which I don't believe but]
I don't know.

thats kinda weird (no offense) i mean he is so young i would think they would try every thing and anything. Even if he needed a transplant he would be at the top of the list.

Yea. That's what I thought too. I don't know if it's the truth. But even though I don't know exactly the truth I still feel bad for both of them.
I tried telling her they have some surgery for stuff like that and she said that he told her there was nothing...which I found odd.

I actually have a heart murmur. It's not the serious kind, but my heart sounds differently than normal people's. I've had it since I was born.

I know I was lucky with that. I'm sooo sorry for your friend. Prayers are going her way! No matter what, she shouldn't lose hope. Miracles happen.

ok i may sound REALLY stupid (especially since my dad and brother are EMT's and my other brother a paramedic) but what's a heart murmur?

Oh and by the way, my friend from 9 years got sent to the ER last week. I can't remember what day now. She has something called Kosto Cardidus. (anybody ever heard of it?) From what I could understand from her when she called me from the ER, she feels like she's going to pass out and she can be sitting on the couch and her heart starts racing. I guess her heart and ribs were inflamed and swolen?

I believe a heart murmur is a sound the heart makes due to turbulant blood flow. There are 6 levels of it. One being really small, and 6 being loud and thrill.

When i was first born i had a heart murmur and the doctors were really worried about it. I had to go to the hospital like every week cos of it. It got better thogh and now i dont have to go to the hospital at all but it might still be there im not sure!

One of my friends from school also has or had it and she is not allowed to have her ears pierced.

My thoughts are with him, his family and his friends.
