We're heading to wdw in feb 2014 with a 4 and 2 yr old. I've read that some families think the earmuffs are great for loud shows.

Is it worth it to bring them along say for stunt show, Indiana jones, maybe a 3d show or fireworks?
Thanks all!

We took them when Ds was 5 because he hated loud noises. It was definitely worth taking them. We will probably take them this upcoming trip for nephew (just in case).

We have the Peltor ones for DD. They work great. The only issue is she could still "feel" the fireworks when we were close which scared her a bit this past trip (at 18 months), but she was fine at 11 1/2 months and actually fell asleep 2 minutes into the Halloween party fireworks!

My youngest has real issues with loud noises-- the fireworks still terrifiy her.

For our first trip, I got her Peltor noise reducing headphones... in hot pink. They're still an important addition to our trips. http://www.amazon.com/3M-Peltor-Junior-Earmuff-Blue/dp/B0015UX2EK/ref=sr_1_2_m?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1370084842&sr=1-2&keywords=peltor++noise+reduction+kids+ear+muffs#productDetails

I have those ones in pink on my Disney list on Amazon. Glad to hear they work so well. DD is a hot mess with loud fireworks.

DD has issues with loud noise and we have the hot pink Peltor headphones :thumbsup2 We have had them now for 4 years and DD still uses them (she is 10). I have to get her new ones since I think they are now too small for her.

When you do, could you let me know which ones you get? I suspect we'll need a new pair for next years's trip, and I'm not sure which one would be the right size. I'm guessing the Adult ones?

I would only bother with them if your kids really don't like loud noises. I have a very large extended family and have been to the World with a lot of them. None of my cousins have ever had any issues with loud noises. I've been with little little kids (2) all the way up to teenagers.

My brother however, has autism and hates loud noises. We never brought ear muffs for him but it probably would have helped. He was good on all rides, shows and 3D shows, my Mom just took him home early because he didn't like the fireworks.

These are the ones I have decided to get -

The ones below have the same decibel protection as the hot pink ones but DD does not want them in blue :rolleyes2 The yellow ones above have a little bit more protection and she likes the color ;)

DD loves her headphones and sometimes wears them in the car when go down the mountain and in planes - I think it helps her with the pressure change.

At home we use the ear muff type. At Disney I just brought the little ear plug type, they buffered the effect of the loud noises, but were so much easier to bring to the park.

Thanks; I'll pick them up one of these days to replace the pink ones we have.

We have the Peltor Jr headphones and DH & I can both wear them as well as our 2.5 yo DS. My son not only doesn't like loud noises, but loud spaces either. He has wore them in several loud restaurants as well as during shows, ect. If you at all suspect that your child may not like loud noises, buy something, keep the receipt, and take it back if you don't use it.

I just wish I had known about them sooner. Izzy used to wear regular earmuffs to homeschool p.e. because of how the gym echoed. Poor thing. Why didn't I ever ask about this kind of thing. Worst mother ever. :(

We have the Peltor ones for DD for hockey games (and we go to a LOT of hockey games, all three of us have season tickets to the local ECHL team). They are fantastic. I have a small head and tried them on myself and they work great. We also have a pair of BabyBanz. We got those when we couldn't find the Peltor ones for season opener. They work alright. They have pretty good noise reduction (though not as much as the Peltor) and they aren't as comfortable, but they do work.
