I just called Disney Tours to inquire about Keys to the Kingdom. I asked if there was any type of assisted hearing device for my Hearing impaired mother. The CM said "yeah umm, I'm pretty sure there are." :confused3

She didn't exude confidence. I knew I should have come here and asked you guys first.

Thanks in Advance
Toni

I do not think there would. My understanding is that an ALD is designed for a location where there is a script and/or pre-recorded audio.

KTTK is a live tour with a guide that goes to various locations. A lot of the discussion is not scripted but based on questions from the other attendees and showing items that are seen. The only things that would really help would be to have some sort of amplification device and to remain close to the guide.

Even lip reading would be difficult as the guide is not always facing in the same direction and would probably be facing away from her at least half the time.

First of all does she sign? Does she lip read well? There is one tour that uses an FM like system which might be an option to give your mother access. I will PM you with a person to contact. He can give you details. I know an interpreter can be provided, an oral interpreter who will stay with your Mom and mouth everything to her so she can lip read, and perhaps the FM type system could be used depending her needs and skills.

Thank you. I wish she did sign or lip read, but this hearing loss came later in life, and she has not learned those skills at this point.

I got your PM and will contact the contact person you sent me!:thumbsup2

You said "assisted hearing device" Does your Mom hear at all?
We just took the tour in May.
We were all given headsets to amplify the guide and they have volume control on them . You can turn them up really loud..

I was going to mention the headsets- they are for one ear, so your mom can put it in her 'best' ear (if she has one). The volume is adjustable from a whisper all the way up to 11 ;) However, they don't work on the rides, so she might have to use another device for those. IIRC, the rides are Jungle Cruise, POTC and HM.
