Heard something new from MK guest services last night when trying to upgrade a ticket

Disney changed its policy so that they no longer price bridge, but that shouldn't affect whether or not you are able to upgrade. Although that being said, if there's one thing we know it's that experiences vary wildly depending on the CM you get. But I think an important point was made in this thread...sometimes saving a few bucks is not worth the headache.

I thought that it was actually found that Disney did not change it's policy on bridging. That was a rumor months ago, with a long thread discussing, and finding there had been no policy change. And, many, many guests have bridged tickets this spring and summer, proving that Disney still allows for price bridging, if you can find a CM who knows to do the bridging.

Disney did not change the price-bridging policy at all this year.
There was a small focused change in the policy
a couple of years ago that affects only a few tickets.

Correct.

The only tickets that are not subject to price-bridging are tickets purchased at the WDW gates, or tickets purchased outright (not part of a resort package) by phone or on-line directly from Disney.

If you were denied a price bridge or otherwise feel you were overcharged somewhere or sometime, then save the receipts and write to Disney for a refund. This can be done even after you get back home.

Any discount or bridging or bonus offered normally to guests before you and also offered normally to guests after you must be offered to you even if retroactively unless a written policy was in place making your treatment normal for the time frame when you did your transaction.

By coincidence I planned to post this morning to find out the best location to do an upgrade, our UT tix are coming and we will upgrade an 8 day hopper to an AP in Oct. It seems hit and miss as to a given ticket widow but just to be sure ahead of time, the upgrade cost should be the difference between the Disney price for our hopper and the Disney price for the AP, right?

Thanks,
Bill From PA

I used to always get the ticket with the biggest dollar-value discount, with a plan to do a price-bridged upgrade after I got to the parks. It's been so hit-or-miss in terms of finding a CM to do this without a hassle that I've given up and just started buying the tickets I think I need from the get-go. The few dollars' extra savings just isn't worth the process.

I know, I should not give in this way, but...my emotional state on vacation is worth more to me.

Lol, thanks Robo! Thought I was correct, but still had a little self doubt if I missed something lately, and I'm not a ticket expert, so glad to know I got it right!

Yep. Be sure to use the ticket enter the park at least once before going to upgrade. That brings your hopper up to the current gate price. So the cost you should be paying is the difference between the current gate price of an 8 day hopper and the current Disney price of an AP. Figure the amount ahead of time so you know the exact amount they should be charging you.

Brian, I feel exactly the same. Plus the added complication with pre booking FPs just enhances that. Last trip, we only had 5 day UT tickets that we had bought a few years ago, but we had more park days planned than that, so I couldn't make FP reservations for all my days until we got there and upgraded to our APs. It wasn't a deal breaker, but an extra complication.

I agree.

Unfortunately for UCT, I no longer recommend them, due to issues with FP+. I only recommend buying tickets directly from Disney. I know that can come with its own set of issues, but I'm not willing to have my vacation ruined by a CM that has no idea what they are talking about. That seems to be the case more and more lately.

I think it's fine to purchase from Undercover Tourist as there still is some savings, but buying in order to get the biggest savings when upgraded is such a hassle now with FPP. We purchased 4 day tix and are staying far longer. So like one of the pp we cannot book fpp for our entire stay. It's a pain. I wish I had just purchased the tickets we needed! The savings is not worth it! Well, I guess I will determine how much it was worth once we take our trip. Hopefully the upgrade will not be a hassle.
